Actually, this is known...The guy I learned about the Dub Cities from yanked the tires and used Bit/ZZ tires instead. Specifically Bit tires for the fronts and ZZ treaded tires (for extra traction) on the rears.

will 8.5 mm tires, like these, fit on stock bit or ms rims?

well im using my muscle machine wheels and tires with a coat of rubber cement... makes them super gummy... another option is to check your LHS for slot car tires. they make these in various types of rubber and foam, and also silicone... some are bigger than others but im sure you could stretch them over a stock tomy wheel... and the cool thing is that they only cost a buck...

(a set of rimes and tires is abeit $15)

which ones? - i will post you a list which one i could get asap.
(there are about 20 designs available)
