I use walmart sandable auto primer and testors brand model paint in cans from the model isle at walmart, that I feel is good starter setup.I also use nail polish and auto- touch up paint through an airbrush.

I use Tamiya sprays and bottled paints - I believe they're all acrylic

I like to push the automotive touch up laquers. They're available in touch up and sprays, and on just about every street corner with an automotive supply store. (Checker's, Pep Boy's, Auto Zone, even Walmart.) They dry quick, thin, smooth, and super glossy. Are super hard and durable. Bond excellently, and my favorite part is that they are exact matches of actual car colors.

Only thing is, if you're gonna go with laquer, stick with laquer, because it doen't mix with enamel, that most model paints are..
