micro thin 2.4ghz reciever (would sit on top of the servo under hood)
50mAh lipo (sits right under the roof)

Aight, I started doing cad models of how I'm gonna do the front end. This is what I came up with.

Looks great, have you tried sourcing the spindles from a Super Slicks car? They should hold up well and finding a set around here shouldn't be too hard, I'm sure someone still has a few trashed SS builds just sitting around in a box somewhere.

I for some reason failed on my math to figure out the top speed of my car even after I finished the gearbox...

Here's the math:
30800 rpm motor speed
gear ratios 12:1 give 2500rpm on the rear axle
12.5mm tire diameter is roughly 40mm per rotation

40mm * 2500rpm
100,000mm/min * 60 minutes
6,000,000mm/hr / 25.4mm/inch
236,220in/hr / 12in/ft
19,685ft/hr / 5280ft/mi
3.7mph

Looks like I need to change the entire gearbox... I'd be happy with about 20mph top speed because a 4W motor would probably still have enough power to spin the wheels anywhere up to that point..

I wish I could, but I don't have any here...if no one else gets a picture up I'll try to get home next weekend and take a few pictures. Basically it's a little bigger and beefier zip zaps front end.

this is a cool project, does that ESC have reverse? I read over the site info a couple times and couldnt find that info...

I was just looking at the thread again and it hit me there's no receiver...so,any ideas on what you're going to use as a receiver? It's going to need a lipo cut off...do any of the micro boards have one?

Well I think the radio system would suddenly stop working when it hits a certain voltage, but incase it doesn't, they claim the ESC has cell protection...

Cool. Really like that brushless motor. You should be able to notice the voltage drop through the cars performance or lack thereof. I kept an eye on mine with a voltmeter in the beginning until I was comfortable recognizing the signs of low voltage. Yours will probably be even easier to recognize as it's not a crawler.

the only thing im not feeling is the servo just way to big for this build , i have seen in the rc aero world some tiny metal cased ones that would be perfect for you . sorry i dont have a pic or even a link but they use them on the slow fly indoor type of thing
for a li-po how a bout the new ones from a dnano they are tiny and run 3.7v @1300mah loads of playing time

The servo is huge, but for $4 I wasn't complaining..

The metal cased servos you're thinking of were called cirrus micro joule servos. I had a set of em a couple years ago, but the coupler that goes from the feedback pot to the output shaft broke on both servos, so I returned em. Also they had no torque...

The perfect servos for the project are made by Horizon Hobbies and sold by Hobby King.

how much torque do you need surely they have more than the magnets on a gen1 zip
