I keep lookin at these slot car bodies and how many vendors supply and produce them. Thy're easy to modify to a bit or zip, but why should we have to. I'm really surprised someone with the skill and means to produce slot car bodies haven't hoped onto the micro rc cars yet.

I have a theory, it's probably wrong, but it's my belief...

I think since slot cars were huge in the 60s, and while popular during the 70s, they weren't as popular. Now it's an obscure hobby... So I've always got the impression that these are left over from the 70s, and they're still trying to get rid of them.

Yah, I know that's probably wrong, but since you never see recent bodies styles, that's just the impression I get.

Another possibly more accurate guess, might be that they're using the same molds, because it's not worth their time to make new ones for a dead hobby.

Either way, I see your point Sezziz, Micro RCs are happenin' now, and they should be cashing in on it.

I agree dave, slotcars may be a dead or niche hobby, but that would be all the more reason for these guys to hop on the micro rcs. Atleast logically speaking that is.
Like you said they may just be using the molds that were left over from the 70s but how hard is it to make a new mold? Some of the people at these forums have been making molds of diecasts from the begining. You'ld think that this hobby has become big enough for someone to come in and start pumping out bodies that'll fit on these chassi stock.
Maybe when The zip 2.0s are released and the original zips are finally released to the oversea markets, we'll see some chinese clone company pump out american bodies.
That's all I freakin want are some caddies and thunderbirds and olds for my micros.

I know that this guy makes new molds and new replacement parts for old cars too. I bought some T-Jet parts from him several years ago. I called him about three months ago, and he wasn't even remotely interested in making anything for a Bit. Maybe if everyone started sending emails or something. The quality of his product is awesome.

Maybe they're afraid that if they make bodies for micro RCs the slotcar hobby might just finally die. I personally never got into slotcars past the hotwheels track days (when I was like 8yrs old).

I think it might be because most of the guys that are into HO slot cars are older and have money. Micro RC probably seems like a kid's toy to him, and kids ain't gots no cash. Maybe it's just a matter of sending him some links to the forums to show the interest isn't just with the kids.

You miss my point scottman, I want some bodies made specifically for the bits/zips rc cars. I want some bodies in bit or zip scale with slots already cut and wheel wells matched with the stock chassis. I figure since slot car manufacturers are already setup to manufacture plastic bodies why not make up some molds for these micro rc cars.

I think they're older guys, who are like collectors, and see bits more as toys, but I also think that they're desperately clinging to their old hobby, and are scared of moving over and helping make way for the next thing, or otherwise why wouldn't they cash in on it, if there is a market for it?
