Scala43 Alloys...How do I put these things together?

Before I pull out the crazy glue and start doing something wrong, can anyone tell me how these sets get put together?...Damn, it's been like over a year since I'm finally getting around to these!

The old ass thread Payaso started long ago shows a 1-piece allow wheel...But the sets I got are 2 piece. This picture shows the set, it also includes the etched inserts but I didn't include that with the picture (I can figure that part out).

If the pic don't come up, the pic is at: http://www.geocities.com/lmennuti38/Scala43.jpg

Thanks.

CD,

I picked up some of the pens and I'm a little confused with what you said to use after the cut...

Image
You'll be using the narrow section of the pen tip.
Does that means to use/keep the LEFT of the cut (left of the red line), where the writing end is. Or to keep the RIGHT side, where it was dipped into the ink?

I'm thiking you mean the writing end, since the back end is LOOSE when I test mounted it on the rim.

Thanks!.

The right side, the one that inserted into the pen tube, is the one you'll be useing.

See how it makes like a flanged insert?

Crap, I was hoping you WOULDN'T say that.

The right side isn't a snug fit at all, it's actually loose. I made sure to pick up Pentel RSVP mediums too...Unless you picked up the retractables? But the retractables are more money and you mentioned getting them for cheap.

Damned these alloys!

Well damn, it was variances like that, that made me sceptical of reccomending this. I didn't reccomend it until I tried it on 3 different sets of alloys, and I've done 4 now. So let's see if we can figure out what's happening.

How loose is it in the alloy?

Re-reading my post, I'm wondering if you mis-understood. I did say you'd have to glue the backs. I was saying the pen tip bushing fits snug on the rear axle. Once you pound in the rear axle, you'll probably expand the pen tip bushing, and it'll fit snugger in the wheel.

Does that sound right?

And It's ok for the bushing to slip in the alloy up front, since it's free spinning.

jeeez, it's like a big circle jerk...I finally get around to wanting to mount these rims, but I'm having problems. When a man has issues, we go out and buy TOOLS to remedy those problems! But once we have the tools, we want MORE shit to use the tools on...And so the circle keeps on jerkin.

Being without a vise and needing some smaller collets for my Dremel, off to Home Depot I went.

Scored me a sweet vise...

And it was only $21.00, not bad at all. Scored the smaller collets for the Dremel too, now I can drill a hole in a fly's nipple without interrupting any areola!

I'm ready to attack the axle problem again now.

dude lol
more than a vice (which is needed if you're any type of man and do man shit), you need a drill press.
I can't tell you how cool those things are, and I'll tell you this, when you wanna drill a straight hole - screw those drivers with the bubble level, you can't get anymore precise than a drill press.
I love that thing.

I'm on the verge of calling uncle here man.

I finally made some progress and then fucked myself. In the process of pounding the axle into the sawed off pen tip (this is the piece for the rear with spacer) I bent the shit outta the axle. The fucker just would NOT go into the pen nib! 1 BCG axle down.

Then I switch over to a ZZ axle (got a few laying around not doing shit). I got the old wheel mounts off, sanded down the lip from the gear and proceeded to sand down the knurled ends.

Did such a good job of grinding the knurled ends, now it slips right into the pen nibs...LOOSE.

Ehh.
