Pimp on a budget?

Post by riceboi077 »

Check this out: today I brought my zip to school and my friends gawked over it. I raced my friend Sidi and I beat him, but my old Dodge Charger shell just wasnt cutting it. I cannot find spray paint anywhere neatrhere, and so I finally figured out the budget way to paint your zip zap. Here's a tutorial for a Pimp on a Budget.

A. Materials

Check it out. I'm chinese, so I dug out a REALLY old chinese watercolor set I got from a chinese bookstore. See? Useless things come in handy. I have my crappily painted stock Pontiac TransAm (Present), a small paintbrush, and a tissue. Now, let's get down to business.Dig up any painting material you can find around the house. Prepare yourself.

There's starting off. I decided to go with a baby blue color for this thing. Yellow? that just doesn't cut it. A quick tip is when you paint with a paintbrush to move in straight, long strokes.

More painting. If you're a pro, you wouldnt bother to read on, because this seems very ameturish, right? Actually, the paint creates a nice effect. The type of paint you paint with makes your car individual. For instance, if you paint with a sharpie painer, you get a very "hand made" feeling that most people wouldnt like. But a paintbrush and chinese watercolors is what I personally prefer, because it has that "gloss" feel to it. Always try to paint in one direction, because it emulates spray paint. It's good to have spare tools ^^

Like it? It was hastily done. Anyhow, here's the result of my Challenger:

Eh...sweet eh? Problem is, I cant find the UPLOAD button in the gallery...me and my stupid 13 year old head..

Anyhow, that concludes my painting tutorial. See that spoiler? I'll show you my cheap, efficient way on how to make those using VERY readily availible things.

Peace,

I seem to remember seeing a car like that before with the big spoiler.

Well, I guess you have to work with what you got as far as the paints go. I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did using watercolors.
Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing clearer pics to actually see how the paint layed down. Hand painting can work out, just takes a lot of work.

Here is how I do

Damn, those are some NICE rides....I found a way to gouache my cars, but it's kinda weird...you take crazy glue and cover the whole car over, and when it dries it's all plasticky...

LOL, that sounds like one of the dumbest ideas I have heard here latly. No way it could look good. But way to think outside of the box.

BTW incase you missed it, the green cars are hand painted w/ testers.

Yeah, don't they spray paint graffitti on the walls there? They do here.

Anyways, I was just wondering, what happens when you get it wet?

yeah, when you get it wet (without gouache), the paint kinda just comes clean off like butter. But I tried the Krazy Glue thing, and learned this:

1) If you don't touch it, it'll look sweet.
2) If you DO touch it, it comes out like crap.
3) If it's dry, than you can run it under the Falls and it wont be washed off.

And btw, they spray graf like anything here...lol

OK this "idea" has gone down the crapper. Sorry rice, but the idea is crap. A Can of spraypaint from your local auto parts place is like $3 on the cheap. The water colors and superglue is just plain gay. How about crayola crayons and elmers glue for clear coat.... bah
