Anyone know how to make bearings for a ZZSE axle?

Post by Cheesehead »

Out of curiousity, does anyone know the best way to make bearings for a ZZSE axle? They need not be removable; I just need something I can solder on to the bottom of a bit of metal. (Don't tell me to use micro airplane ball bearings. I can't afford 8$ a wheel.)
Lithiums are great!

And they explode if you crash them too hard!

at this scale brass bushings are perfect.

i think bb's would be a hinderance unless you can afford the afformentioned fancy micro flight ones.
maybe look around at slotcar supplies stores. search back a bit for posts by canabits.

I agree with betty, the metal-on-metal would offer alot less friction thanplastic would. Provided it's not a tight fit.

Yes, but how do you mount the axle so as to allow it to be free-spinning?

you'd have to yoink a wheel off, slide the bushings onto the axle, remount the wheel.

then you need to mod the chassis to accomodate the bushings. if you do it right you should be able to make it so the axle and bushings can be popped in and out, make up a few axles like this with various gearing.

that's just what i'd try first, you might have a better idea :-o

From a sewing supply store. They're called brass eyelets. Like the ones used in shoes to run the laces through. Just take your rear axle to the store and look for a tiny one that will fit well. Remember you have to get 2, one for both sides of the chassis.

No. You're lucky you didn't start typing in gobbledygook. Have seen what happens to users that do?

Are you threatening me? :-? :-x

I don't care if you just got released from a hostage stand-off. Type correctly at all times and when you fuck up, the community will decide if you get the mulligan. Not you. :-o

I meant no offense; I merely meant that I may have started to rearrange the words following a language pattern more befitting, say, Aramaic. (For example: "The car the this needs bearings small")

Thanks for the tip, Maxximum.

I pulled bearings out of 2 floppy drives. You find em on the end of the stepper's shaft set into the plate.
Whack!
