A Hummer ....

The articulation mod allows my ZZMT to do this....



Below you can see how I mounted the ZZSE servo to act as a gearbox for the ZZMT. This mod gives the truck MASSIVE amounts of torque. I can no longer push the truck as it can no longer 'free-wheel'.


Using the screw hole on the ZZMT, I bolted down the gearbox to the rear deck. Also I drilled a hole to (over to the left of the picture) screw down the servo. The screw I used for this hole was a long one that came from the ZZSE itself. I will later remove this gearbox and install 1 or 2 'racks' so that I can mount the electronics suspended between the two halves of the chassis.


Preparing for the paintjob I've masked all places I don't want painted. I also put masking on the inside just incase the paint mist goes under the body and sticks to the inside.


Primer, let dry then sand lightly with 600 grit wetsand paper.




More updates to come. I'll be laying the paint during the week and I'll walk through that too. It will be Urban camoflage and a learning experience for me. I'll take pics of every colour I put on and in order. I plan to show the masking also.

I was previously doing this as a WIP on another forum, but I brought it home where the scale would be more apreciated

Now I know why hiroto streches his chassis, space in there is at a premium
I worked out the racks now all I have to do is get a whrly doo PCB and install everything. I'll be buying paint tomorrow on my way home after my math exam.

I mask all the time now. Everysince my early days when I thought "Red backed with gold" meant painting the outside of the clear-body red and painting the inside gold . It was a PITA cutting window masks back then . Now I just throw some tape in there, enough to only expose below the window line.

Time for it to roll back out, at least now we can take the back road





What we did:

Quad cell (dual SE cells)
SE servo gearbox
Body lift for more atriculation.
SE servo motor as the steering motor
Removed Steering spring
Whirly-doo PCB
Guitar string antenna
Red MT gears for a little more speed
Xmod MT offroad wheels for more weight and ride height.

A chassis extension would have done this build a world of good, but unfortunately we had to constrained to the proportions of the stock Hummer wheelbase. The cells are at an angle to allow the front to articulate, laid flat would offer a better CoG and can only be accomplished with an extension.

Whelp that's it from MAXXA Designs, I guess you can keep your eyes out for some footage.

... but I have become masterful at sanding out and clear coating the inside of the body.
