As you know, or may not know, my Offroad SE has been set aside for some time now. The reason is the frustration with building a complex chassis got to me. So while taking a break from that, I decided to do a simpiler hack on a chassis.
This ride was going to be my End of the Year contest entry, (oh well, there's always another, right?). After getting into the build, I didn't want to rush this one. So I'll show some progress pics to you guys, if your enterested.

Almost everything on this build is from tips and tricks that I read or saw at this Website: So if you see your mod in here, I thank you in advance.

It started as a Mater body and a regular Zip chassis with a few add-ons.
I chopped off the rear end to live the cab, chopped the top, removed the engine bay area, and gave old Mater a shave on the front.

The fenders I made from cut up buttons from a Pontiac factory radio. I had tried heating and bending flat plastic, but gave up. When I saw the radio face sitting in a box I knew I had found the perfect shapes and curves

I had to make the bed for it, so I laid out the foundation for the chassis hacking. I am going to use a SE battery, slot car axle, and mount the motor perpendicular to the rear axle using a piece of the reflector plastic from the same radio face. It had holes in it- the pefect size for a motor.

After gluing some plastic for the (long)bed, I realized that the Zip board isn't going to fit. So a Microsizer board will be installed in it's place later on.

The rear end will have lights sunken(frenched) into the roll pan, but the actual leds will be glued into holes in the top part of the plastic panel that will reflect the light .

I added some plastic to the headlight areas, and the front end, to start shaping it into a 57-ish Chevy truck.

This is a PITA. Lots of sanding and etching followed.

Here are the most recent shots. Taken after a coat of silver base and some more sanding. The chassis isn't just right yet. I have to move the rear axle 2-3mm's further back. And the front wheels will be drawn in a bit more too.

Here you can see what I'm going for in the rear lights/roll pan.

I still haven't decided if I want the aggresive look..........

........or the lowrider look.

It still needs a lot of work, but I am enjoying this build emmencely(sp?)

Wow! That is saweeet. Personally I like the the aggressive look with the raked front end. That blower sticking through the hood is badass. What are the motor and tires/wheels from?

Thanks. I may go inbetween, or make 2 slots for the tab to go in so I can change it from time to time. Tires/wheels are from a ProRod diecast, the Nomad I think. The motor from a
Diecast Mustang, I don't remember the brand but it was bought at Target.

SWEEEEEEET! its about time you posted that ride man I was so looking forward to it and you did not disapoint!!!

the button thing worked great have any more my fenders look like crap!

I like the front end man the etching looks good and that silver is so cool!

I would go with the aggressive look also it just says Hot Rod Truck!

I saw this ride when you debuted your garage. But I thought it was a die-cast. I guess the silver with the orange patched threw me off.

Wow. Using the buttons for fenders, what an awesome idea.
I'm with most everyone else, the aggressive look is choice.

I wouldn't do anything else to the truck, it is perfect the way it is!

Great work i am soooo digging it in everyway, especially the use of the radio buttons, very ingenious and to have thought of it.

That just took the place of your AM.

It looks fuckin real in the last pic. I'm torn between the 2 looks though.

I was going to suggest the agressive look, but the last pic is really tough looking too

Great job either way. Does it turn ok with the tubbed rear?
