Man, al this 'mater hackin' is getting me inspired.

Awesome job, looks great, and I really like that you stuck with genuine GM parts for the fenders.

That is turning out GREAT Pimp ! This Mater character show a lotta potential.
I hope to see a lot more variation in the coming year. I may hafta break down and

I do anything with it.......

I like the low rider look.
The old beater look is kind of cool also.
Great work ! ! !

Thanks for the comments
Ummmm. It isn't running yet. But it will soon :-o
The paint will be the red that you see on the bumpers, Garnet Red like Bilbo's Firebird in the topless contest. I am starting to like the Rat Rod look too

I'm liking the fuck out of that!!! Very nicely reworked Mater!!!

For the stance, I say go agressively.

The 'lowrider' look just doesn't work to me with that super. Down in the weeds would work if you had a hood on it.

small update

Post by ibjamn »

A few things got done this week. (work is kicking my tail :o )

I got most all of the chassis work done; brought front wheels inward, did away with the front susp. springs, got the micro sizer board wired up, put on the rear tab mount, and put in the battery connectors.

I actually have charging holes in the bottom of the chassis, so it will charge off the remote, and the battery is still removable. The motor is removable too, just got to resolder it if I want to change it out.

I've driven it around a little without the body on. It has good torque, but no traction. Sometimes it will just spin out.

What sucks is the remote doesn't fully charge that SE cell. If I charge it in a SE chassis, then remove and put back in the Heavy Chevy, it does ok. But I only get about 30 seconds run time :o

The body work is still needing to be finished, as well as the light system.

like everyone else said - f'n AWESOME.

for the handling, the body weight will aid with traction.

softer rear tyres would be the go, but as we all know they don't look anywhere near as cool :o

maybe try weighting the rear down?

or just leave it as one hell lookin' doughnut machine..

more updates soon please!

thanks guys.
DD, you're right about the body. I didn't think of that before. The tires are actually pretty soft.
I will be using a watch battery to power the leds, attached to the underside of the bed cover too. That'll add alot of weight.

I used clear styrene when I cut a windshield (for yet another unfinished project).
Easy to cut & bendable!
