Building a new body for my zip zap

Post by Ecca »

Currently I am thinking about Bondo or Kitty hair fiberglass bondo.
Was wondering if anyone could think of a better thing to build it out of.

You should try the Goku mod on it first!!

You could try to take pencil shavings from a pencil sharpener and mix them with powered milk and gatorade for color to form a paste for sculpting.

If you are going to drive it around, bondo may be too brittle to work withat a small scale. kitty hair is a pain to work with in small detail.......
I'm being too negative? aren't I?

If you want to try something like that, you can get casting and mold kits at places like Hobby lobby and such. :-o

No perfect reply. I was thinking about making the body out of the kitty hair and then sanding it into a rectangle and making the rest out of bondo.

I'm going to look into the molding kits right now thanks for the good reply.

Yeah, I think I am going to go that route. Currently carving the car out of wood for a male mold.

vac forming is sweet once set up - I've been doing it for years making bodies for AFX (HO) slot cars.

Clear PVC is also a cheaper option (and easier to find) than polycarbonate (Lexan). Needs less heat to form too :)
