My first custom body chopping.........

Post by Teppudama »

OK, I got some of those micros at Big 5, only one of them being a car;

Well, I decided I wanted to try and make a first custom. I have been looking in a lot of the photo galleries and some of the ones that have impressed me the most were the custom trucks from car bodies. I decided to take a 5 door "hatch back" and make a custom minitruck out of it.
So, this is my start;

I carved it into a pick-up body, made a bed cover and rear window with some tinted plastic, made a front and rear lower air dam and am adding a fake antenna out of the front fender and putting some side, front and rear ground effects to widen the look of the lower portion of the body.

The performance on this micro is pretty slow, so I am looking around to find a motor for it and may rob the battery out of a micro cycle I have to add some run time. I plan on also lowering the body on the chassis to give it a lower profile and painting highlights on the rims to make them match the body.

Any tips for painting it? I will be working on it slowly, as work has a tendency to prevent me from getting my hobbies moving in the right direction, but I will post pictures as I progress on the body.
Thanks for all the work you guys have done that have given me the ideas and inspiration to tackle this, it turns out it is a bit trickier then I had thought, and I am enjoying the challenge! I even picked a Homie to have a new ride and am working on getting a track and garage made for my micros, so I will post pictures of those as I get them done too.

Edit:
OK, I couldn't let it sit before going to bed, so I put the bed cover trim on and added the fake antenna, but now I am going to bed, promise, LOL!

Looks a hell of a lot better as a mini-truck than it did as an Accord wagon!
