Ok let me be clear about this. The wheelbase reduction mentioned within the first few posts was a joke, it would be very difficult and utterly pointless to reduce the wheelbase of a ZipZap to one of a Bit. The two chassis differ in length and it would just be easier and more efficient to buy a Bit Char-G rather than reduce the wheelbase of Zip to match it. Wheelbase length is more for larger scale RC's and is common among RC Crawlers because of competition regulated lengths and to fit specific bodies.

Track width is a different idea that is much more common in the smaller scales than a wheelbase reduction. I did not do the 'reduction' but by adding wider tires, I have essentially lengthened the track width making the car less prone to flipping.

Take the body off to cut weight, it should help some.

What kind of surface are you on? You have to be on a high-traction surface so that the tires can grip. If they slip you loose all that torque. Try carpet.

i started out with bits and found that extending the wheelbase made them handle better. if i'd started with zip zaps i would have kept the original wheelbase.

if you're using the lego tyres then the best surface is concrete or a track made from mouse pad material.

p.s. nice work smoke&mirrors, takes me back to the good ol' days....

ok so i tried it on carpet and i tried taking the body off and those don't really work to well. driving on the mouse pad material and concrete definitely helps the handling but doesn't help getting the front end off the ground. but that's not really a big deal but thanks anyway :-o
