it uses a really small servo unit. it isnt really proportional but you get 4 or so steps in each direction. it isnt that great but its better than magnet sandwich.

ill let someone else get into the pulsewidth stuff and all that math crap.

Hi!

Thx for the answer.

Could anybody post picture of it?

I'm thinking of making all terrain vehicle using Zip Zaps SE and Jeep Wrangler body.

There is no Zip Zaps here in Poland, so before i import it i want to be sure that it's good for such a mod.

You could do that mod to an SE with no problem. A lot of people have problems with the SE's steering chattering when returning to center. (although I haven't had that problem) the steering motor is stronger than the bits magnet setup, so If you plan on adding larger wheels and tires, it should work just fine.

Yeah, the SE's steering is plenty strong enough for that, but if you're talking about building a custom chassis, then you'll probably need to keep the whole front end of the SE. As it is not a true servo driven system. It has a hard wired bit sized motor driving a gear box, with a separate potentiometer. You'll probably need to keep that together to keep it working good.

You should also note that the Wrangler is not an SE, it's a standard ZZ, so your gonna spend an extra 20 bucks just for the body. I know that because I really want a Wrangler body, but already have one too many Zip Zaps, and don't think it's worth it just for the body. Damn RS.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.
