Zip Zap SE Dual Cell?

Post by SilentWolv »

I like the new ZZ SEs. They've got me interested in the hobby again. The proportional steering and acceleration is everything I wanted to race 'em...... except they're incredibly SLOOOW. Even with the purple or yellow motor and/or gear combos there doesn't seem to be much difference. With the propo acceleration, I want 'em to burn rubber.

So my questions is: Has anyone done an internal dual-cell to the SEs? Does it have any harm on the steering or burn out the lights? Did some looking, but couldn't really find it. A link or tut would be awesome. To be honest, I haven't even cracked the lid on one of these, but wanted some comments before I get started, thanks. :???:

I don't believe SE's can be dual celled.
If you want immediate results, I'd say send off your SE to microAmps.
or I'm sure one of the pimps here will eventually figure it out.
I've also heard the red gears are better for the SE's.

we might start a ZZ crib, but for now, we mix ZZ's with Bits since they're very similar and most mods work for both

A dual cell in a SE won't do anything until you have a mosfet mod done to it.

The PCB doesn't let the juice from the extra batts reach the motor, but after you mosfet the board in it, you'll be able to mod the hell out of it...

I have the red gears, and a NX motor, and if I just squeeze the throttle, she just sits, and does burnouts.. Very fast.

Doh.... Forgot to mention that one. A dual cell would actually be a quad cell. Do a search for bdebde. He's done it, but not sure what his results were.

I was considering doing it, but it's fast enough now to where if I do do it, it might be uncontrollable<sp?

This is the one that MicroAmps modded for you? Sounds like what I want.

I would definitely go for the fet mod. No extra weight added to the car, and from what I've seen, the speed increase is substantial.

Has anybody done a TUT on the Fet Mod for the SE? CrazyDave? Buddy? Ratshack part numbers?

Its not the cost of the MicroAmps job, its just that it would be uneven with the rest of the competition on my track. Do one, and have to do em all. If I could do Dave's FetMod myself though, thats cool. I'm watching the "Fetted My SE" thread, but haven't heard anything in a while. Anyone get it figured out? ... and want to share for free?
