got a new zzse, front axles are different.

Post by betty.k »

previously i had an initial d rx7 zzse. now i'm a happy owner of a torino.
of the many differences i've noticed between the 2 models (talking chassis now) the one that bugs me is the front wheel axle setup. all the micros i've seen before have a front axle that enters the wheel from the outside and is affixed to the knuckle. this way the wheel spins around the axle.
with my new se the axle enters the knuckle from the inside and affixes to the wheel. so the axle is spinning inside the knuckle.

so what's that? a definate way to identify a new gen se without opening the box for sure, just look for the lack of a metal axle head. but if i wasn't putting alloys on this i'd be annoyed with this little difference. i want the wheel to wear out, not the knuckle. anyone else noticed this?

that's fucked up... 1 step ahead, and 2 steps back. When will they learn?

If you plan on running alloys on it, you shouldn't have any problems with it.. Once you get em on, it's smooth sailing.

An SE with alloys is the most precise micro I have.

I think they did that to improve looks.

That cracks me up, but mine like that works fine, no binding, so I haven't worried about it.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

I've got this one bit (dual cell/fets/3:1 gearing,etc...) that I've been running for over a year. The front wheels are definately worn from use, so the front tires seem to rest at an angle now. This doesn't seem to interfere with performance though. In fact, it runs better the more I run it. I think when the pin holes get worn down a little it helps. :???: Just a guess though, but all my cars seem to run better after a little were and tear. They just get smoother when things get a little loosened up.

IMO
Cause I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle.

I don't know if you have any pullback tires laying around betty, but they are awesome on the alloys....

It really is a top notch set up with alloys on it. If you got fets in it, it's like driving a "hobby grade" R/C.

I use the tires supplied with the alloys for the rear, and front pullback tires for the front of the SE, but on my bit, I use pullback tires on all four corners.. Great fuckin tires they are.
