I'm sorry guys. I wasn't at my cars and was going off memory. The 4.2s and 3.8s have Lt blue endbells, NOT tan. My, very, bad. Now I can understand the 4.2 having tan and the 4.2 pros having lt blue, but wth??? How am I supposed to know which one is a 4.2 pro and which is a 3.8??
Sorry about the mix up guys...

ok, let's clear this up. here's the so called perfection 3.8, light blue end cap, comes in a red box

and here's the 4.2, 4.2 pro king package. you can't really see the 4.2, but i think (correct me if i'm wrong) the pro is the one that comes in the red box with the white end with the "e" sticker. that's how mine arrived with 4.2 king written on the box.

now here's the so called individual 4.2 pro, blister pack, light blue end

now, from this and what i've observed i'm guessing that the motors with the light blue end are 3.8's, regardless of their labeling and the white e cap ones are 4.2's. and after looking at some pics of the zz nitro with the purple end i think that could be the mystery purple motor i have.

I have received recently a LXX Bridgestone Beetle. It was supposed to came with a 3.0 motor, but it has one with light blue endbell, just like the 3.8 Perfection. Is it possible that they included the 3.8 and 4.2 (freebie) in the same car set? I already have a 3.0 that came with a LXX Auto Modellista set but it has black endbell.

purple 3.4K ZipZap SE motors
How do the 3.4K ZipZap motors (called the NX) for the ZipZap SE compare to the 3.8, 4.2 or 4.2 Pro?
I found a place to buy just the 3.4K motor which I think is identical to the purple endcap NX motor but mine has a tan/brown endcap.
I've heard that the 3.4K NX motor is superior to the 4.2 even though the 4.2 has higher rpms. Can anyone verify whether this is true or not?
I'm in the process of making a tester that will test all the motors I have in the same chassis with a constant voltage supply in order to compare motor to motor. Has anyone done this before? Has anyone posted the results?
Thanks...

I agree, the NX is my motor of choice for my SE as well.Jackd wrote:Where can you get NX motor sold separately ???? In my opinion its a great motor especially in the heavier SE which needs a motor with extra torque. In my FET SE cars, The 3.4 NX gets off the line quicker than my 3.8, 4.2pro, 4.2 Elvis and even the 45K motor I got.
RS doesn't sell it separately, but check out the new muscle car tuner set. I really think 12.99 for 2 bodies, 2 motors, and the gear set is a great deal.

I also agree. In a fet modded SE the NX motor has the best overall performance. I have found that it's followed slightly by the Perfection 3.8 motor. In swapping the two motors in the same car, the NX came off the line a bit faster but at the top end the 3.8 was a tad faster but not enough to make up for the slower jump.
