All right Pimps, one of my ZZSE chasis has a short somewhere. I turn it on and it charges just fine. I bump into anything the short triggers and the car no longer responds. Pick the car up and turn it off and back on again, all is fine.

I looked over all the wiring and all looks ok. I do confess that my own volt-meter is not sensitive enough to check continuity across the PCB.

Any help at all would be tits.

It's probably not a short but an intermittent connection. They can be a pain to trace at the best of times. Assuming all the wires look OK I would suspect the switch itself or the connections to it. You can try bridging the switch, if that solves the problem you just need to find a new switch.

When it "shorts", does it no longer respond on Steering, Throttle, Both? Does it change the car to a different channel?

First thing, open it up and check your battery connection in the car.
If no, then wiggle Battery to PCB and Switch wires.

That'll get you started on the most likely candidates.

When I had a nearly identical problem, I found that I had a the wires under the PCB smashed, and the casing on the wire is so thin that it was splitting and causing shorts. I re-routed the wires so they wouldn't get crimped when the car was altogether and that seemed to fix it.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

Thanks for all the tips, Pimps. Unfortunately, my two year old daughter got ahold of it while I was at work. I am now the proud owner of a cracked PCB. Those of you with kids I'm sure you understand the concept of "toddlers can do amazing things when your back is turned."

Thanks anyway, though.

Edit: OT, you hit it right on the head. Before my daughter got ahold of it I bridged the switch and all worked well.
