I'm not a big fan of this mod, so I've never performed it. I don't believe it does anything signicant to the car, if anything at all.. I can't see why a company would make their product worse on purpose, and until I see some secret mod info from "Tomy", it's all HYPE in my book...IMO
There are plenty of other mods out there for range that are actually proven..

I have unsoldered the resistor on the car itself.
But all of my Transmitters never had the cap to remove.

the new microsizers are a biznitch. i added a 3rd battery and added a 2foot telescopic to the transmitter and it doesnt do squat for range. my next step is to fudge around with the "pot"
my friend is an ee who repairs stuff. he pulls solder off boards on a daily basis and even he is intimidated by little smt stuff.
nox: did pulling it off the car's pcb do anything?
namuna: does the speedracer have a crip cap in the tx? it gets about 8foot which is better than my mspro which gets about 5foot

it's a mind thing..... Ya really want it to work.... so you think it's a better range... but to be honest.... it's probably the same.. Definity no big change.

my friend calls this "voodoo science"

dudes! ive heard that the "cripple" capactior in the car is actually some kind of noise filter item. Dunno much about it but it can't be good to get rid of. Some cars get better range than others, i just gotsa live with it.

Well, I removed the "crip" resistor on my MS Sport and MS Classic (MS Pro did not have one)
With that gone and a 12 inch solid 24awg wire for antenae (cat 3 backbone cable), I can get 40+ feet outside.
Maybe it is hype, but seems pretty sweet to me!
Last mod on this page is the removal part

JC_focus_ZX3, you might just have convinced me to at least try - that's incredible range.

my first clone got 75+ indoor range totally unmodified. keep in mind this 75+ feet had to go through a huge office of computers. too bad the car was a pos other than the pink motor that came with it.
