Video Game like controller w/ room for turbo?

I was wondering, would anyone like to help me creat a video game like controller? You know like a PS2 or original NES controller. See, i was looking at the inside of the controller, and i noticed how behind each button (updown/leftright) there is 2 smaller buttons attatched to a plastic bar. Now what happens if we put both of these bars in the same spot, one verticaly and one horizontally? It makes an X like a directional pad on a video game. That would leave room on the right half of the controller to put the turbo blaster on the main part of the controller, along with any other buttons you would like to add!
