Re: sorry
Sorry don't mean to have to correct you, but the crip cap is not a resistor, it's a capacitor, hence the name 'crip cap', cripple capacitor.micromatch wrote:sorry i duno how to cut and pase and all thaat crap but.... look at the pis and in the bottom left to the right of the solder blob or lift your pcb up and look where the anteanna starts and if there is a small brown resistor connecting the anteanna that is it! but if it isnt there then the first thing i said is your best bet
Secondly it's the Tomy cars that have them, and they are on the top of the board, and have been obviously added after the PCB was assembled. The LXX does have a couple capacitors on the bottom of the board, but I wouldn't remove them, for one they are marked on the board, and part of the circuit design, secondly the LXX doesn't have the same range issues as Tomy cars, thirdly I removed the Crip Cap from my MS and not only could I not tell a difference, but I think it glitches worse. I believe the capacitor on the car is not there to cripple reception, but to absorb interference.
Bit Char-Gs are a different story however. They have a crip cap in the controller. Before I removed that I only got 2-4 ft. range. After removing that it performs in the usual 15-20ft.
So in my opinion the only "crip cap" that matters is the one in the controller, and that's only on Bit Char-Gs that get a couple ft. in range. So unless your range is only a couple ft., I wouldn't worry about the crip cap.

try this man.
take a garbage bag tie(the kind with the metal in the middle) and strip off the paper/plastic stuff and use whats left for the antenna. this is a hell of a lot less intrusive and will ad at least a few feet and not look as dumb. dont forget to bend the top end(i use jbkwik) so you dont poke any eyes out.

Guys,
Not all charG controllers have this crip crap in them, i took my auto modelista set's handset to bits after seeing the capicitor trick on another site, only to find my handset looked nothing like the one pictured ?
That then left me with the task of putting it back together again, but for some reason its taken me a long time to get the turbo button in right, and the charging station bit.
But all sorted now..
