ok i read this on microrccenter so whoever did this they get some props. i just found their tutorial kind of stupid.

but anyhow its real simple to do. just unscrew the one front screw so you can lift up the pcb. you will see the servo pot thing. it seems that the first few models had the green and blue wires soldered to separate posts on the pot, on the mustang blue and green were on the same post. on the old version i guess there is a jumper between the blue and green wires. if you have that, cut it. if you have both wires hooked up to one post put the green one on the post next to the middle one that doesnt have the yellow wire. it just takes minimal soldering skills. put her back together and enjoy proportional steering.

Does it center correct? How many steps do you now have in either direction?

ya the steering works like it should now. 3-4 steps either way. no detrimental effects that i can see.

Cool beans.... Got any pics for those of us that can't visit that shit hole you referd to?

no camera. just open the pcb up and look at where the blue green and yellow wires connect to the pot.

ok im perplexed by these things.

se mustang
perfection 3.8
move one wire over mod(this is the gayest mod ever)
slicks front and rear
stacked mosfet like crazydave did
no jbweld yet

the motor is pulsed so its inherently gona have crappy torque. im thinking i need to dig up my red gearset. i dont think it will lessen torque much and should make her a little faster on the top end.

i suggest you all do the wire move over thing tho. its really easy to do and it makes the steering 300% better. the fets make it accelerate a little quicker but not that much like dave said. im still gona try to run the light power source into the motor parallel to the pulsed supply. that should give it more punch. i seriously doubt ses will ever move at top ends like bits or the oldstyle zzs.

but it is considerably faster than a stock bit and it handles 1000% better than any bit could ever drive.

i also will do the rear end soon. any wasted energy in the gears would contribute to slow startup even more than a bit.

but again do the wire thing and put a decent motor in there and you will have the most fun driving car you have ever owned.

Thanks for the info Hog :)

I've found that this mod is 99% perfect. I occasionally have a problem with it centering, but I am running alloys too. I'm going to experiment with replacing the jumper with a resistor, see if I can get some slight stutter to help center it.

Well actually I didn't say it improved it that much. After FETing the whole H-bridge, it was only slighty improved from just replacing the stacked transistors, at that point what I actually said was something like, 'It's probably not as fast as the standard Zip Zap, but it is improved, and can pull a 4.2 Pro now, and that's fast enough for me.'

Sorry if you felt misled. ;)

I totally agree with you about the pulsed motor signal being the source of the power limiting. It's my theory that it's the digital signal causing it, and a faster A/D/A converter might help, but I know very little about digital components.

no no no man i was saying that your theory was correct about it not being much of an improvment. but ya i got the 4.2 elvis in right now and im happy enough with the speed for the moment.

Just thought I would highlight the key phrase there hehe :)

No mattter how fast we are always looking for faster

Aww man, I re-read what you said, and I see how I got it totally backasswards.
Funny how that could have been interpreted 2 different ways.

well i guess i shoulda worded it a little better. have you tried the red gear yet?

Naw, I just assumed it would be too sluggish for me, I was barely getting by with the green gears. I'm back to 12:1 now.

Would be nice to see what teh difference is with the newer se's(concerning the power)

I heard that the studder is gone with the newer ones wonder if anything else has changed to maybe help out with the lack or torque :???:

What are you smoking?

I've done this mod, and if you read MRCC, theres a severe centering issue, someone on Tinyrc.com has some really bad tutorial on how to fix that. Your right it does wonders to your steering but you cant center correctly.
