This is my quad-cell monster. Having trouble charging it. Does anybody here use quad cells? Anybody have any quik and easy solutions for charging? I'm probably not gonna get a peak flow charger.

well a dual cell is pretty difficult to control. a tricell is just waiting to flip over 3 inches from the starting line so no i dont think any of us have ever done a quad cell. but you would need 6-8batteries to dump enough current into them.

I have to use 4 AA's to charge up my tri cell. The car itself is heavier and wider than a stock bit, so luckily it don't flip. Good luck with the quad.

I have seen quad-cells on the forums before.
Also the batts are 1/4aaa nimh. The same kind they use in digi-qs, so I'm hoping with the smaller batts it will have a little less torque with a high top end speed. If so, then I might be able to throw in 3:1 gearing to increase acceleration control.

It also has fet modded bit booster board, and it's in a ZZ chassis.

Did the pics come out ok? This is my first time posting on these boards, so I wasn't sure.

battery size and voltage have nothing to do with eachother.

Battery size and ma do. Ma = torque. I.E. AA's have more ma output than a AAA. Same voltage, but different ma.

I would make a 6 AA stand alone charger. Pull off the charging port and wire it up to the battery box or whatever you call it.

P.S can you tell me where you saw the mod? (I cant wait for 'www.rcmod.com' to be updated. I think it is updated on jan 1st 04 if anyone wanted to know).

Sorry pimp, but mAH does not equal torque, its the amount of storage the battery has. 50 mAH means that the battery can flow one milliamp for 50 hours. It has nothing to do with torque. The increased voltage is what makes the torque fly up. If your motor can only spin 30,000 rpms, you can run all the volts in the world through it, but it can still only spin 30,000 rpms, but it will get there a hell of a lot quicker (that's the torque).

djpure's right. i have both sorts of batts, and they both kick out the same, just the 1/3's last longer than the 1/4's. mah refers to run time only. by the way, you got it back yet? howzit go?

I didn't say mah. I said ma. They are seperate entities. Think of "ma" as the speed at witch the water comes out of a focet, and "mah" as the water supply. Sorry, but you're talking to an electronics person.

Sorry, but if you're an electronics guy, why can't you charge your car?

Good point hue35. I ended up buying a peak flow charger. I was actually just interested if anybody had a quick and easy, yet safe, way to charge a quad. It's not a good idea to just throw 4 AAs together for this job. It could/and did fry the board. I'm not a genious about electronics, but what I know, I know as facts. I actually had to send this to MA. HE is the real genious. My knowledge is basic when compared to him, although I'm not a newb. I do my own fet mods and dual cells.
