4.2 king
hi all i have a ? about the 4.2 king motor, i dont remember what they looked like on the end, i got two from toy east in the little red boxes, this is what i have, two motors have a white cap with an e on them, and i have three red ones, and a purple one i think came from a zip zap kit, i put the white end capped with e in a clone and the thing crawled and when i put the purple motor in it it was great hella fast. i thought the 4.2 which is the white with e caps i think wre supposed to be the bomb,. actually i put the e cap motor in a lxx char g and it was better there than the clone, both rc's are single speed. are we calling the 4.21 with an e cap an elvis, i read an earlier thread. motors seem to work differantly in diff cars. slower, faster and so forth, just a thought.
p.s. i picked up this rc from big lots today, it has a wire shaped in a square under the body for an antenna i thought this is cool. gets great range too, its called thunder charger, good little car, and i see that dark tari has modded a couple of these and they would be the blue car and the gold car of his in the gallery wow. i was suprised with this little car to say the least.
i know its getting warmer out side, lets not give up the hobbie

4 Da money, the Thunder Charger is the best thing going. $5.00 you get a very decent Micro with great range, steering, tracking, speed, wheels & tyres. The car body sucks unless it's modded. The truck is okay stock, haven't modded one yet. My BigLots no longer carries them or the Micro Speed cars. I like the bodies on the Micro Speed a hella lot better.
The 4.2K motor is fast as 5hit! As with all things, there are bad ones out there, I have a couple! You are correct with the identification. I prefer the 3.8, never had a bad one or any problems.

Ironically the 2 4.2 Kings That I got free with my Super Bit Char-Gs are smokin', where as everyone I actually paid for was a dog, and technically those were freebies that came with my 4.2 Pros. So I couldn't help but to wonder if Toyeast knew there was inconsistancies, and that's whythey where giving them away free, but then Payaso got a some dog 4.2 Pros. I got to try one out, and it was indeed a dog. So now I'm leery of perfection motors, as overall I'm starting to see more dogs, that good ones, but for the price, it's probably worth the gamble.
Elvis=the King, I'm sure that's the equation Hogjowls had in mind when he started calling the 4.2 King the 4.2 Elvis.
Thunder Chargers are the bomb. Several of my cars are based off of Thunder Charger chassis.

i got a couple of free "elvis" motors recently and i found them to be fairly fast but lack the torque to truly reach their top speed. although on smooth surfaces they would fly. as you've found out, quality control down at the ol' perfection plant is handled by a goldfish with cataracts which can sometimes act in your favour. my 2 prized motors are both mysteries to me, one with a flourescent yellow cap and one with a purple cap. i got them with lxx cars, and if i could find them again i'd be buying plenty more! otherwise i'm a fan of tomy 2.6 and perf 3.8 motors for good speed and torque (all my bits are dual cells with fets) and tomy 1.6, 2.2 2.6 motors when torque is my first priority. and has anyone noticed how the 3.8 and regular 4.2 from te are identical?

you raised a great concern about the freebie 4.2 kings, mine was also a freebie when i bought two lxx char-g from toyeast, i wonder why they are free... i put one king in a lxx single speed rcand dual celled it and it does wheelies like all, but the other king seems to be a dog, i should switch the two out and see if i get the same performance, cause i am thinking that the diff cars have diff voltage to the motors ect. i will be modding tis body dark t but could only wish for a nice few bodies like yours ( the big lots charger ) hey dark t i have to look again at your blue car and see what you did with the four light in the front of the hood of this car, did you shave the two top ones off?

I have one with dark blue cap which also come with LXX car, and this motor is A LOT better than any of 4.2, 3.8 or Phast that I have seen. Yeah and it`s supposed to be 3.5.... Maybe it is but speed and torque is far beyond....

I have a black endbell one from a LXX car, that VooDooMafia sent me. He was saying that he'd find one of these in an LXX every now and then, and told me to check it out cause it is pretty fast. It was pretty fast, until I went to change the pinion, and the shaft pulled out with the pinion. I shoved the shaft back in, and it works, but it's not the same.

Yep that`s the one..... It was about 6 months ago ind it cames with LXX (those dual-speed in almost- cube black package) 40 Mhz, while 35 Mhz (same shippment, same series) come with very crappy motor....

i got mine in an r type lxx 57 mhz. came with a denso supra and vw shell, 2 speed pcb. best buy i've seen.........in hindsight!
after buying a few lxx cars i realise it's a lottery when it comes to included parts, some you lose and some you win big!
so can anyone tell us where to buy incredible motors like this one? and i'm not talking about a maybe here. i'm talking a dead set supplier of incredibly powerful motors such as these mystery purple ones or the fabled em3.8 vanquish.

To my experience, my most consistant motors have been the ZZ purple motors. They have always hung with the 4.2s and 3.8s in terms of torque and top end (always run out of range before seeing true top end of 4.2s). Plus the shipment from TE I got, the 3.8s and the 4.2s look exactly the same. Light tan endbells, the only way I knew which ones were 3.8 was a sticker on the packaging saying 3.8.

That's odd. The 3.8s I got from Toyeast look exactly like the 4.2 pros. Light blue endbell. They also look exactly like the motors that come in Bensu Cannonballs, and out of three of the Cannonball motors, I keep mixing one up with my 3.8s, cause it's nearly as fast.clxfiles wrote:Plus the shipment from TE I got, the 3.8s and the 4.2s look exactly the same.
