super slick motor in a bit
I put a purple top super slick motor in my bit. It's faster. The purple top motors are rated at 27000 but it is definately faster than a perfection 3.8 or 4.2, witch are both rated at higher rpm's.
Only one catch though. I'm using it in a car that is fet modded and has a kokam 3.7 volt 135mah li-poly battery running it. I'm pretty sure the motors almost have to use a pcb with fets. I doubt a stock bit pcb would even turn the motor over. Also, the super slicks use 2.4volts (I think). A single cell bit only has 1.2 volts.
I'm going to mod another car for dual cell nicads and fets to see how that runs. Will post on that if anyone's interested.
I used the superslick's motor because I was killing regular bit motors too quickly with that li-poly battery and fet combination. I thought the super slick motors would be a good idea because they are still small enough to fit between the rear wheels and seem more sturdy than the delicate bit motors. It's also not a whole lot heavier than a bit motor and I can still fit the NSX body on. Well it's worked so far. The motor hasn't burnt out or slowed down. I did have to dremmel out some space in the motor compartment and remove the heat sink. I'm holding it in place with metal wire.
Speed checks soon. A rear whell flew off. I had done a wheel mod and the superglue didn't hold. I put some apoxy on it and I'm going to give it a day or two get a good strong bond before running it again.
Some other people need to try this. I use it with a 2-speed bit pcb and it still pops wheelies unboosted/1st gear.

Sure, I can get some pics up. It only took me about 15 minutes to get the motor in. I just dremmeled out a little space and secured it with metal wire. It was alot easier than I expected it to be.
Like I said though, the catch may be the power needed to run the motor. From what I've read about the SS's, it comes with fets and 2 1.2 volt batts. I can't confirm this because I don't own one though. But the bits only have one 1.2 volt batt and cheap transistors instead of fets.
I also put one of these motors in another car with fets and a li-poly, but it has a modified die-cast hot wheels corvette body on it and 12:1 gears. It's still much faster than a stock bit. Will get some speed tests up as soon as I can on both cars.
The first car has 3:1 gears and ball bearings on the rear axle. Here's the original post on that car. The SS motor is not in these pics because I just put that in recently, but I figured I would put something up, because I'm talkin alot of smack and there's no proof.

Again, I will get speed checks with a digital speed checker and pics up as soon as I can.

Fixed the pics. Mind the mess, I just moved in recently and things are still in boxes.

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.
