Dual Cell charging question

Post by USATorque55 »

For those of you that know what I'm talking about, feel free to post, if not just try and go along...

I did a dual cell recently because I was bored to a regular ZZ.

Ive been charging it on .5Amps with a Delta Peak of 8... I have a few probelms...

Its false peaking after 15mA, and 5.4V( yes thats what a good peak charger caan do). I cycled the battery once, and no luck. The runtimes are fine, and its not that, but I have no idea why it wont charge over 15mA...

Next thing is, what is teh highest amp setting I can use. My Batteries are 150mAh. .5A lets me have about 20 minute charge time. No trickle charge.

uhh dude get a fucking nkok charger. they work best for all bit batteries. no need using a 60$ charger on a 50cent battery.

I didnt buy the fucking charger to use on Bits, but its a very good tool...

I can monitor Voltage, input V, mA, charging time, Delta peak, Amps... and have 10 memory settings...

Its also safer, because it has emergency cutoffs, and will tell you whats wrong with the Batt...

I use it for my 1/10th, 1/18th, AAA, Epoch

Its a great tool, if you have the money definaetely get one...

Damn hog putting perspective on everything.

Anyways I agree no reason to buy an expensive ass charger just for bits, but if you got it, why not use it.

My best guess would be that it must be pushing the battery too hard. If you've confirmed the batteries are good then that would be the most rational explenation. Since .5A (500mA) aint shit, I'd have to think it's pushing too much voltage. 4.5v is ideal, I wouldn't use more than 6v for dual cells.

I'm not sure what the 15mA rating it's telling you is about, but the batteries are rated in mah (milli amp hours) That's like an average of the amperage the battering puts out over a period of time. 15mA might just be what the batteries is putting out at that moment, but I'm not sure if that sounds right to me either.

I use a volt meter to watch for peak, and I easily get 45+ minute runtimes from 100mah cells.

 ooohh! someone to enlighten us on something about dual cells?

I'm pretty sure we've written the book there.
go read one or more of our articles.

The mA reading on teh charger is simply like a gas tank. It tells you how many milli amps the charger could fill the battery with.

The charger I'm using, doesnt put too much voltage in, it monitors and reads the battery to tell how much is neccesary to charge it.

I'll try cycling the battery once again with no load.

As far as the original question goes, I think it will be like any other NiMH battery. You have to prep the battery to take quick charges.

Hog-

Thats pretty much a nice way to say if you dont know what I'm talking about dont post. In a nice way...

dude what the fuck. put the damn car on the charger twice for 45 seconds, play with your bit until you get bored or distracted.

your way infinatly sucks compared to mine because you had no success and had to wait for answers on the internet as to where i had already grown tired and played videogames. the most technically advanced way isnt always the best.

Duratrax Pirahna Peak Charger

Hog-

lol, yeah but dont have anything to convert to a peak charger. or make anything cheap... I know I shouldnt be messing around with big ass chargers for bits... but its entertaining.

Oh and I'm not spending alot of time.... I've been racing my Z

BTW- I got my own probelms. Somethings fucked with the motor or board. The motor goes full throttle once the battery is charged.
