I'm not sure which is best, but long ago I used www.tripod.com.

ph2t's post about the crip cap mod

I could be wrong, but no I don't think you do have it there.

by the, welcome to da crib

blind bats...

Yea that resistor is in your car. but removing it might not help your range. It's a feel good removal...
If you remove it...you'll feel good.
but I don't think you'll see a difference.

I have done this MOD.

from experience, it works sometimes, and other times nothing helps. If your car gets 10+ ft or so, i wouldn't feel too bad. If it's short (2-5') maybe that telescopic antenna or an extra batt for the controller. Sometimes the origional tomy bit char-g have a capacitor in the controller...not MS's as far as i know.

Nox, it's a capacitor not a resistor. Yes it is in the car, although I have no experience with booster pcb's. The MOD has always worked for me. I have done it to two MS chasiss and two Compact Char-G chassis with good results always. Strange that people get mixed results....

Ferret in the bottom left of your pic there is a black square with white stripe (great band, lol!) at the bottom. The first brown square thingy above it is the cap. Refer to the pics in my Howto and just rotate your pcb to align with mine in the photo.

sorry ph2tpinhead,

it's a surface mounted part... at that size, it does't matter, he just wants to rip it out.
If he was interested in changing it over, to a different value... then sure.
that's when it matters...

if it's coming out...it don't matter what it is to the soldering iron.

 hmmm... boosters have a nicely soldered crip cap...? cuz in all my normal cars, they are.... somewhat messy and look like one of my soldering jobs on a good day. in that pic, and in my Bit char-g AM set, the cap seems very neatly mounted on the board... kinda makes me wary of messing with it :?
