had a rare oportunity to pick up 2 new in box xray m18's
for 50$ total at an LHS last month. he was just trying to dump them since he had them for a while and they never sold. so i bought both.
didnt take long to get running, since i already had a brushless motor
from an xmod project.
xray m18 #1
Mamba 8000kv brushless+25 amp esc,
hitec hfs03mm receiver
hitec hs81mg servo+homemade servo saver
1250mah kokam 3 cell lipo
atomic motor mount/heatsink,
shimmed rc18t ball diffs with 3racing aluminum outdrives.
19tooth pinion stock 36t spur.
airtronics mx-3 radio
this car is sickly fast.
xraym18 #2
spare parts if i break anything with the mamba.
those stock xray gear diffs were smooth and they handled fine behind
the mamba with a 2 cell lipo. but i had to upgrade to alum ball diffs when
going to a 3 cell.
so far i've only broken a wheel hub.

we can have an army of beasts, then.

if you ever have a chance to get a mamba in a 1:18th do it. theres just no looking back. best 100$ ever spent.
definitly didnt give up on the xmod project, i love that little thing. ive
been making my own lexan chassis plate..but every time there's always
some binding in diff spots..

also now have a mamba 6800 as well, so now i can compare to the 8000 with 2s and 3s lipos. a 2s 8000 looks to be very fun on an xmod with a 30t pinion(which was my original plan).

some binding in diff spots..im on attempt #4 now. I know i'd be driving it already if i break down and buy the tinyrc/zero carbon fiber pro chassis. i just may end up doing that.

i really dont want to part with it, sorry.
one thing i noticed with the m18 is that if you are going to modify it to race, you can put one together from scratch with aftermarket parts cheaper than it is to buy the car outright plus a few standard mods.
there's really not too many parts needed to build the m18, it's a
very simple and effective car.
the only "stock" parts you need are the diff housings 12$
front+rear stabilizer/front servo mount set 6$
composite knuckles are fine to keep too. 10$
stock wheel hubs 8$
shocks+spring set 10$
everything else gets tossed if u are looking to set up a racer.
carbon fiber chassis $50
alum motor mount $15
alum pinions $4
44 tooth spur $6
4 atomic alum cvd's $35
rear adj toe in rods $6
2 rc18t ball diffs+shims $20
2 sets 3racing rc18t alum outdrives $20
steel suspension pivot balls $6
atomic one way driveshaft $20
couple sets of differnt camber control arms $12
set of foams
bearings 20-50$

I'm looking for a straight-line stormer. I might just buy one new and go from there.Clint wrote:i really dont want to part with it, sorry.
