Trying my hand at some new flames...

I picked up this sport trac body a while back and although i dont have a 1:10 scale truck to put it on yet i figured id try my hand at some new school flames. I still need to paint the lights on but its not bad for my first try.

This was done with an iwata CS double action airbrush and some lexan car paint.

paint the head lights? Didn't you paint it inside out?
Just throw on the decal for the head lamps (if ya gots any)

yeah, i have decals but i think painting them on like i did with the grill will complete the look. I didnt paint it fromt he inside because i was new to this technique and i wanted to be able to fix things if i screwed them up. THis is more of a show piece than a full on thrashing body. I just painted it and cleared it

Those flames look awesome. I really gotsta gets me an airbrush!

I can kinda vaguely tell that maybe you need a little more practice with it, but the effect looks great, and think with just a little pratice you're gonna be looking professional.

I agree with maxx about the headlight decals, and a Ford logo in there will really bring it to life, but for future reference, I discovered the best way to get realistic headlights on lexan is to leave them clear, and then draw or print the details, and silvery/white color on a piece of paper, and tape it inside. Gives them more depth that way. Its the flatness that kills the effect when you do it on the outside of the body.

That's a hellova start man... Looks pretty damn good. We finally have a "real fire" painting tutorial here at bP, so maybe that might give ya some tips..

Painting on the inside last a great deal longer too.
