well while you are waiting, you can get some of these on order...
adjustable shocks from 3racing. good quality, smooth, and you get to loose the plastic pre-load spacers. oh yeah, the look good too .
got mine from stellamodels on ebay, about $25 shipped for the set of 4.

You know, I was watching vids of the mini LST, and came across a vid of a Stampede. I really miss my ol' Stampede, and almost considered getting another, but I swore if I ever went 1/10th scale again I'd go nitro. So I'm hoping this will fill the gap in the meantime.

It came already. It just shipped on Tuesday. That's the fastest I've ever seen UPS move. Ultimate Hobbies is cool too. The advertised price was $199, but they only charged me $179. It did say on the website, "Call for price" I guess I should have called.
I super excited about this one, this is a such a step up in quality from what I've been playing with lately. I hadn't really considered how heavy all that aluminum and the dual motors would be... Its a pretty solid chunk of change. The shocks look almost like shortened 1/10th scale ones. they are fairly smooth, but honestly, I think I build them better. I like a bit of rebound, and a little Green Slime on the o-rings keeps them not only smooth, but leak and squeak free. I can't wait to rebuild these, but I gotta order some stuff first.
I did get the defective wheel hexes, and the rear wheels are starting to develop hairline cracks around the hole already. I called Losi, and they were real cool about getting out replacements. So I'm gonna be gentle for the next week. I'm all excited to get off work tomorrow and run it. I hope I don't kill it my first time out.

Ultimate is great with their shipping. They always have good buys on something.
I had to call Losi again the other day for new wheels. Been awesome each time!!
They sent me two the first time and I'm assuming it'll be two this time.
So far I've cracked 3 wheels, 2 with the old hexes and one with the new hexes.
BTW...I don't know if I mentioned this part yet. When they send you the wheels, they come with pre-mounted tires on them.
Have fun!!

Good call on the MLST! I got one with a novak Micro GT ESC and 2x trinity cobalt 18 (16 turn, 12 advance) and it flies. It clears every jump at my 8th scale track with insane torque on a 6 cell gp1100 pack. I'm still waiting on the tp2000 2 cell from b-p-p.com (should be here tomorrow) and then I hope to have some of my runtime back.
I have broken a few things:
1) body posts (easy to break. replace with hot racing posts $5 for 2)
2) 2 rear diffs & 1 front diff. The upgraded diffs are great. I broke the first upgrade kit, but the second kit has held tough. I boiled the first diff kit. *shrug*
3) shock tower (replaced with 2 dynamite CF/alloy towers)
4) wheel shaft (dogbone) bent it all to hell on a nasty landing. Super fun, but bad for the servos. =)
Make sure your alignment is right. Especially with aftermarket tires. The toe-in on mine was FAR too much from the factory. I also recommend making sure your slipper actually slips a little on take-off. It will make those diffs last a long time. I like the throttle response of the 2 brushed motors. It's very, very fast and smooth.
Brushless it slow on this thing unless you use a 3-4 cell lipo. I use the dynamite alloy chassis (pimp), the CAW hubs, and HPI wheels on some Evil Twin tires. This thing hauls ass and handles really well on dusty bluegroove. Beware the anti-roll bars if you are on a sticky surface (bluegroove/clay-top/etc) because the truck will slide and then traction roll. It's pretty cute until you break all your body posts.
Anyway, don't get discouraged by the stock setup. Those upgrade diffs really help out, and someone is already got an alloy lock diff out for it. It is just a locked gearset for the rear diff. It is pretty nice with the BB diff in the center. MIP or Losi Mini-T diffs work great, as does the Dual Disk slipper for the mini-T. They are releasing a 52 or 54 tooth DD slipper for the MLST which will keep the gearing closer to stock. The locked rear really cuts down on your handling on sticky surfaces, but in the dust, it is great. You can actually pop wheelies without eating your diffs up like candy.
Hope this helps,
-JNY

Thnaks for the tips PS, that actually does help... I think I'm gonna go check that slipper while I wait for my battery to finish charging.
EDIT: Just had to add, I think this thing is as cool, if not cooler than any of the 1/10th scale cars I had, but the one thing I would change... I wish it was a kit. I miss the fun of getting a kit, spending half the day putting it together, getting to know every piece, knowing when it worked right, you did that. I want my own paint job on the body! The first thing I'm ordering for it is a new body to paint.

2 weeks and still no wheel hexes. I just called and for some reason they didn't get sent. I hope they come quickly this time, because I'm getting tired of babying this thing. I want to take it out for a romp, but the wheel wobble is getting worse with every run, so I'm afarid of breaking it.
You guys with the updated hexes, are these gonna fix my wobble altogether? I'm afraid I'm tweaking my wheels.

Stock/original hexs=3 broken rims=4-5 runs (one one stock cells and motors and the rest on Lipos and brushless)
New updated hexs=1 broken rim=10-15 runs (all on lipos and brushless)
So, yes. I think they do help with wheel slop.
I got some stock MLST Losi yellow dish rims and ATX tires to take to the races. (1/18th Nats, end of the month) I think the dish rims will be stronger and hold up alot better with the lipos and brushless set-up and the added strain it puts on the truck.
The Hot Racing CVD's are real nice too.

Got the wheel hexes today. That was much quicker (than not being sent at all, I guess), but I did not get my wheels. I got the grease and all new gears for all 3 diffs, which I wasn't expecting, but no wheels.
I know I should call about it, but now I'm irritated, and I avoid things that irritate me like a plague.
I don't believe it was right for the mLST to even hit the market with defective parts, but shit happens so I was willing to give them a second chance, but they dropped the ball, and just didn't send it out, now they've dropped the ball again, and I'm left with a pair of cracked wheels.
At this point I can not reccomend Team Losi to anyone. This is entirly unacceptable to me, and I sincerely wish I went with the Associated now.
But is is a cool truck, and I guess I'm stuck with it, so I placed my first order for it today. I got me one of these:

I'm sure it was some kind of miscommunication. They handled my situation great. They had to send me wheels 2x. Each time I spoke with them, they were extremely cool about it.crazydave wrote:Got the wheel hexes today. That was much quicker (than not being sent at all, I guess), but I did not get my wheels. I'd just give them a call and ask about the wheels.
Love that body. Thats going to be a purchase a little but down the road. I have to wait till after the race. I have to use a racing body.
I just picked up the dual-disk slipper conversion kit for the Mini-T and some alloy shocks for my truck.
It also looks like ESP is going to produce GREEN anodized aluminum for it too!!
The aftermarket it blowin' up!!
