They are working on a 52 or 54 tooth version of the DD slipper too... something to look forward to.
I'm waiting on a replacement 60 gear to get running again. Just took it appart and installed the MIP BB Diff in the center, and the dynamite blue chassis... Hope the new hobby shop dick remembers to order my shit.

See that's the thing, they were not extremely cool when I called about the missing order, he acted irritated, and rushed me off the phone, I had throw in at the last minute "... and that was supposed to include 2 wheels", and he gave me the yeah yeah, whatever attitude, and abrubtly hung up before I could say thanks.sg219 wrote:I'm sure it was some kind of miscommunication. They handled my situation great. They had to send me wheels 2x. Each time I spoke with them, they were extremely cool about it.crazydave wrote:Got the wheel hexes today. That was much quicker (than not being sent at all, I guess), but I did not get my wheels. I got the grease and all new gears for all 3 diffs, which I wasn't expecting, but no wheels.
I know I should call about it, but now I'm irritated, and I avoid things that irritate me like a plague.
I'd just give them a call and ask about the wheels.
I'm hesitant to keep calling, because you know my tolerance for attitudes, and I'm trying to keep cool at the moment, but I'll probably call when I cool down.
That's what I was hopin' for. I like drooling over stuff I'll probably never buy.The aftermarket it blowin' up!!

I am sorry. Team Losi, you guys rock!
The UPS guy just showed up... and what do you know, 2 wheels, more wheel hexes, and 3 more sets of diff gears.
I have no clue what happened on their end, since the guy had said the first one never got sent, and this came UPS where as the first arrived postage, but I am certainly satisfied now.
I'm glad too, because I really like this car a lot.
Bummer though, because I thought it was my new body knocking.

some new goodies
got the monotuning wide arm set for my mlst. very good quality. fit and finish are outstanding. only problem is the shade of blue for the longer dogbones that come with do not match the blue of the 3 racing shocks, nor the blue on the dynamite chassis plates i just bought. ok, so maybe it's not a "problem", but it would be nice to have the colors match .

There you go again with more goodies I gotta have.richh wrote:got the monotuning wide arm set for my mlst. very good quality. fit and finish are outstanding. only problem is the shade of blue for the longer dogbones that come with do not match the blue of the 3 racing shocks, nor the blue on the dynamite chassis plates i just bought. ok, so maybe it's not a "problem", but it would be nice to have the colors match .
Those interest me, because I thought my Losi was bottoming out a little too much, so I switched to 30wt. shock oil. Now I'm traction rolling all the time. Those would be good not only for the extra width, but the extra unsprung weight should help keep it planted.
...and look at your new looking chassis plates. Mine are already beaten and scarred against the sidewalk.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I thought the heavier weight oil was causing me to traction roll. I guess maybe it was helping me hook up, and the rolling is from the weight shift.sg219 wrote:At the races, the guys around me, if not most people there, were using 70wt shock oil. I put some in and it had a positive affect on handling. Try some in the front then try all four.
But you were racing on flat carpet weren't you? I need something lighter to allow the suspension to absorb the bumps off road.
I used to used 50wt. in the rear, and 35 in the front, on my Losi XXT, but it was also 2wd, and I put softer springs in the rear, where as the MLST has the softer springs in the front. That confuses me, I don't know shit about tuning 4wd cars really.

The track was an indoor offroad track, carpet with jumps and bumps. I have several pics of the track in my R7R gallery.

I ended up liking the heavier oil all the way around with the stock shocks and springs. I wish I would have known earlier, maybe I would have picked up a few more laps in the TQ's. (probably not )
I'm not sure what your running on, but if your using the stock tires on asphalt, they are probably hooking up too much because of the type of tread.
Try picking up some of the ATX tires, I like them on any surface.
They worked great on the carpet, I wish I would have worn them down a bit before hand to have a little less tread.
They are great on asphalt and in loose gravel or dry dirt, not as good as the stock tires in mud or heavier dirt.
I also have both the front and rear Losi sway bars installed on the lowest holes. My truck is set up as low as I can get it.
You may also want to tighten up your steering by tightening the servo savers with a couple of washers and/or making your own servo link. (the little wire-like thing that joins the 2 servo horns) The POS stock servo link lets the front have a little too much slop along with the weak ass servo saver springs.

re: oil weight, i'm no expert but i use 40wt in my 1:10 rally and mt. i also used it in a friend's half8.
in the rough it seems to be a good compromise, allows enough movement and rarely bottoms out.
since installing sway bars on my rally i noticed it traction rolls less

it's one of the first things i did to my 1:10's, night and day differencemaking your own servo link. (the little wire-like thing that joins the 2 servo horns)

Thats the ticket betty.
I haven't had the chance to hook my truck up since getting back from racing, but I plan on using a couple of ball posts and a steering link, I just have to make sure it clears the drive shaft.
Doing this to the MLST is a must. Since learning it, and hearing the results, I can't believe Losi sold a truck like this. I gotta get'er done.
a couple more small tips concerning traction...
Put a strip of duct tape, about 3/4"-1" wide, on the inside of the tires to prevent ballooning and help traction.
I also saw people cover the sidewalls of their tires with CA to stiffen them up so they don't fold over in the corners and roll the truck.
