The R/C gods made me do it. 1:18 CORR

Post by Sporttracguy »

So I think my local hobby store hates me :x Here I am minding my own business, just looking for a clear body to paint and I run into this... a no name box with no labels or branding...
Image
Its a 1/18 4 wheel drive CORR truck with factory brushless that seems to be a complete rip off of the xray m18. :???: Which may be good for spare parts since this thing seems to be a bit of a fly by night brand and doesnt even offer a website for all of their extra parts that they advertise in their instruction manual.

So of course I had to buy it and try it out... and I must say, there better be a good source of replacement parts, this thing is INSANE! Not a ton of suspension travel and the electronics are bargain basement quality but the brushless is crazy fast and the car is a blast to drive.
Here it is next to my traxxas 1;16 slash.

And another scale shot :

and a shot next to my xray m18, its pretty close to an exact copy. You can see the scratches, I already took it out on a test drive.

This is entirely stock, and out of the box, it came with the battery, brushless motor, electronics, heatsink fan and everything.

another shot next to the m18

one more shot to drool over

Ive only had one day to play with it, I will try and have a follow up review later. So far so good,

Looks pretty good. Redcat has been around for a while now, I think they move a lot of their stuff on ebay. I'n not entirely sure but I think they are made by the same manufacturer as Exceed. Check out their 1/8 scale monster truck, it looks a lot like the Exceed Mad Beast that Dave got a while back.

You can get parts on their home site http://www.redcatracing.com/index.html

The brushless version is about $170 shipped on ebay. As far as how fast, I dont have an exact speed but I will say its as fast and scary as my xray m18 with a 8000k brushless. If that puts it into any perspective :?

Honestly, its a fun little truck but the ground clearance and narrow wheelbase make it tricky. If I were to do it again and they were out when I purchased this truck I would have gone for the new duratrax vendetta sc or the brand newly designed team associated short course truck sc18. They both look quite good. :-o
