Box stock RTR - Blue

This thing rules!!! Couple packs crawling random things, getting the feel for mine and seeing how my dad can keep up with his. I love early-christmas presents!

Body clips too small! Traxxas 1834 in pitbox, they fit. Put a 45 deg bend on them, it's all good and you can grab them! If a comp class is set up with really tight things, I may go to smaller, but I like these.

Read on RCcrawler about installing "Xtreme Rock Crawler" springs http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212834 (Walmart used to have them, 2AA turn on and they go forward and flip over on their back when they hit something worth crawling) Hmm, I have 2 of those I bought for parts and the rock playset... Softer and little shorter, I'm there!

Notice front end articulates easier right-up than left-up, servo wires too stiff. Seperate the 3 strands so that it can bend them easier. Went from where it exits the RX/esc up to nearly the Servo case. Softer flex left-up!

Tires make squeaky noise when you squish to rim fast. Don't like air resistance, it slows down reaction and makes them a tiny bit bouncey. Pull off tires, 1/16" drillbit to ream stock hole. Tires back on, quiet now! This may change once somebody figures out the Beadlock-Mod, but one 1/16" hole per rim is apparently enough. Needs little solder wrap in the rims, but I don't want to use up my good electrical stuff in a rim.

No pics yet... It's blue, looks stock, Visual changes: Split servo wires, "Huge" body clips that are nearly 1" long, it's at my house.


--Side Note-- Anybody else still have the XTREME Rock Crawler playset foldy rock case thing? If so, dig it out! They are AWESOME for the Micro!!!

Need to buy some yellow SuperBalls to cut in half, gotta have micro-scale Comp Gates! (1/10 uses Tennisball halves, so that should be about right)

Solder in the rims
Rx foward to Servo
Battery aft to rear axle

Removed battery holder
Removed Rx plate
Removed transmission gearcover
Added chassis stiffener (plastic blow-tube from air-duster can)

Reamed tray mounting holes and layed shocks down a little - not sure if I like it though

My local HT USA has a small lot of these in stock now...tempting indeed, especially after your glowing report

Yeah, I'm having trouble finding any good faults with it.
CG high - duh it's a RTR, not comp tuned.
Motor needs more torque - RTR, had to hit the "How fast do it goes?" crowd too.
Runtime about 15 min off 150mAh and long charge time - Uh, it's 4 cell 150mAh.
Fake beadlocks - RTR, go buy PVC things and fix it!
No 1.0 tire options other than Claws yet - it came out last month, calm down spaz.

These IS a transmission gear wobble issue which hurts runtime and low-speed.

Do it.

Working Beadlocks are awesome! You do lose a bit of tire squish though.

Not sure what mod will be next... But I've traced the chassis and beadlock rings, might have more tuning holes in the future.

Hey Frizz - just a heads-up; Dog Breath Racing over on the Micro T forum just released a Baja Bug body for the Micro Crawler...looks pretty nice if you have a thing for Baja Bugs!

A bug with a Whale Tail...you grew up in the 80's didn't you? I always wanted a bug with the wider fenders, dropped to the ground...911 motor and of course a whale tail from a 930. Never did have that car It's true, life sucks, then you die....

Oh, but I do have a new toy coming so I guess I'll press on.

I had a Baja bug back when I was just out of school...stock engine so it wasn't any thing special and my buddy and I would tempt the gods of natural selection in it by tearing down rail road fire roads but I REALLY enjoyed it. The really cool thing about Dubs has alot to do with how easy they are to work on - ten minutes and a simple floor jack and the engine is out of the dog house.

Wouldn't mind having another one now that I'm more "mature"...

I'm sure the wife would love to go shopping in one...

Anyway why...I got a couple of DB racing Baja bodies coming in the mail for the Micro-T

The local HT was wiped out Micro Crawlers expect for one Binder...and I guess they won't be seeing any until the end of January because they seem rather propular

I was thinking of asking you if you'd be interested in vacuforming a body for me if I ever get it sculpted (I really am not good with clay). I want to build a small scale Kurtis Kraft Indy Roadster but wanted to see if I could fit everything inside the body before building a vacuformer.

...but I didn't know if you'd have the time, the inclination, or a big enough area on the vacuform machine (approx 1/24 scale). Ah who am I kidding? I'll never get it done anyway. Never mind.

Currently, the material frame might not be large enough for a 1/24th scale car. But...I have plans to revamp it a bit and a larger frame is part of the revamp.

Let me know if you get serious about this - I'd be happy to give it a shot!

You might try searching the diecast section on eBay. You may get lucky. That's what I use for pulling 1/43 scale stuff for slots.

Yeah, frizzen likes Air-cooled.
That one with the whaletail was going after the dragbugs with the MASSIVE turbo systems feeding huge engines (up to 2446cc), that cut 1/4s in the sub-10 range.
My family was really into AirCooled during my formitive years, many Beetles, a Transporter, Karmann Ghia... I haven't gotten a real Type-1 yet, but I've got a VW based Kitcar project.

I'd like to make a correction, the Blue crawler was birthday present, not early christmas. Green B&D for christmas!!!!
