the 1:10 hpi rally, all dolled up
and it's a lancer!
i couldn't think of a better colour combination than the suggested one so i just went with it. but i tried to get a little creative with the masking and it turned out well.

there's a helluva lotta work involved with 1:10 bodies, took a long time to mask and the decals take ages to cut out and apply.
but it's all worth it even just for the drivers. i can drive it around without the outer body if i want

Nice looking rally car man.. Nice job on the paint as well. How fast is it?
I took my Revo to the track yesterday, and while the T Maxx is faster, the Revo just soaks up every thing in the track, and it's even quite tough.
Just not enough grunt yet to power over the triple, or quad. The Maxx will do a triple singe, and the Revo has to pull off a double double.
I really like the idea of that rally car though. How high can you jump it, and still be in the generally safe range? Or do you get that thing airborn at all?

Damn, betty... that came out really nice... almost reminds you of the "Marlboro" race scheme from the side...
Where are you putting the cam?
Oh... if you end up losing the helmets from driving it without the body, or just for the hell of it lol... PEZ dispensers make great head donors for those(you'll know why I know that soon enough lol).

before i answer anything i warn you i'm new to 1:10 so i'm just going by the manual and other info i've picked up.
speed is good with this, probably like 35 - 40mph. i'm running an 8 turn limit esc with brake and reverse, 23t motors (currently a kyosho k speed) and gp 3300 nimh stick packs.
i've only really jumped it a foot or 2, but i've had some nice 3ft cartwheels going on and it's held up well! this is supposedly a jacked up rs4 sport as cd mentioned so it won't take too much heavy abuse so i'll use the mt for that.
there's no skid bumper up front so the suspension pivot balls take a beating, already broke 1 and they're scratched up pretty good. one good thing is if i get touring shocks and gummy tyres i can make this a decent touring chassis for track days.
i've still gotta fiddle with gearing and work out what all the adjustments do but as it stands from the box it's a great all rounder, i can have fun with it anywhere!

Yeah, I'm sure it'll take quite a bit of abuse, but I've seen what a parking lot will do to a RS4, so I'd be careful. Especially since someone mentioned those are discontinued, might be a hard to find the part whenever it does break, might be down the road.betty.k wrote:i've only really jumped it a foot or 2, but i've had some nice 3ft cartwheels going on and it's held up well! this is supposedly a jacked up rs4 sport as cd mentioned so it won't take too much heavy abuse so i'll use the mt for that.
I'm still jealous, I so wanted one of those when they came out. The reason I could never get into on road 1/10th scale, is because it's hard to find a parking lot smooth enough to run on around here. As far as I'm concerned RS4s are not parking lot racers, you need a rally car to race on real life parking lots. So that would be perfect for romping out front.

Betty, find some heavily dusted tarmac. That thing drifts like hell. I had an rs4 pro that i converted to rally. It was fun to drive then i sold it back to the guy i bought it from. He was more serious about 1:10 than I was. I just bashed it around. I used cooking oil in the shocks
i didn't really know what I was doing.
