The Trash-to-TQ XXX-T buildup (A Special Bitpimps preview)
Well, I don't seem to post here as much as I should, so you guys are getting the first look into my next project.
I have been browsing a local Racer's forum called R/C Pimp for some time now, trying to find the right truck. I finally found her last week, it was just what I wanted.
The Truck was a Losi XXX-T Matt Francis Edition. Some of the original MF parts were replaced for looks. All the things that make the truck what it is, like the Graphite, Aluminium, ETC was all as it was originally. I only paid $50 for her as a roller. The only non-cosmetic things that were changed on the truck were the shock bodies. They were threadded, but the local guys prefer the clamps. He also included a Trinity Kinwald 3degree aluminium rear arm mount.
I picked her up Tuesday, and began work that night. Thanks to some 3M Adhesive Remover, all the decals were removed from the chassis. I cleaned alot of the dirt off of her, and the following pics illustrate how she was before the latest trip to the local hobby shop.
I went Friday to another hobby shop, and I picked up a set of RPM Ballcups, RPM Gear Cover, Losi Rear Bumper, Losi Front Kick-up, and Losi Body Mounts. A new Antenna tube, as well as a JR Z-590M Servo, and RS310 Rx (not pictured). The next 3 pics are of the truck as it sits today.
Notice the Trinity Arm mount, and that I did not finish putting on the last turnbuckle!
I am waiting for my LRP Quantum Reverse to be replaced/repaired, and it is all downhill from there. Threadded MF2 Shocks will be here soon, as well as some used tires mounted on Yellow dish rims. I will have an extra set of tires for the track only, as I don't want to ruin a set of $40 tires on the concrete. I am not counting the bashing tires as an upgrade for the car, but my racing tire choice will be as follows: Proline R3 Evil twins on Losi Dish wheels will be out back, and either Proline Blades in M3 or The Edge in R3 compound will be mounted on Losi front wheels.
All that is left will be batteries, motor and a body. I will be running batteries from another local matcher, Twisted cells. You cannot go wrong with matched GP3300s! Depending on what kind of deal I can get, I may buy a new Novak Equalizing tray and a set of their matched cells that comes with it in a combo. To let my Pirhana Digital charge at a rate of 5A, I am working on modding a PSU power supply into one suitable for my racing needs. It will have a 12V line for my charger, a 3v line for motor break-in, and a 5v line for running a lathe or similar. Body will be a Proline Crowd pleazer. I am not sure on the motor, but I will most likely have two. One will be for the tight, indoor carpet track I will be racing on this fall. That will most likely be a P2k Pro. For the larger outdoor and indoor tracks, I will be using a Kinetix modified Trinity Monster Stock (when they get back in stock) or a Epic Binary 2.
If you look closely in the pics, you can spot out some of my other projects.

Thanks everyone for the great comments.
Betty, I am actually building a photo booth out of poster board, but it isn't finished yet. But I will try doing that in the bathroom. The problem is that 90% of the surfaces in my house are wood, so it is hard to get a nice place in the house to snap pics from.
Ph2t, Besides updating you guys on this, I am using it as a refrence and notebook of my buildup. No reason to re-write things after I type them.
SG, Are you talking about the bone itself or the stub axle? I don't really have spares of either, but I do know that the XXX-T and XX-T use the same rear end pieces. The XXX-NT should be the same, but I know that the shock tower is diffierent. If you have a hard time getting parts for your truck, I could order from my lh s whatever they do not have in stock. Most people aroudn me run Losi, so I can get parts just about anywhere.
Viperdout, The L-88 Vette is my next project. The way it is right now is just a mockup, but it fits almost perfectly with the wheels inside-outed. When I build the chassis, it just needs to be a little bit longer (about 1mm), but it should go together perfectly.

Just sorta throwin' it out there. I can order them, but since you were talkin' about getting a bunch of parts, I thoght I'd mention it. Never know what someone will have extra during a build-up.
I'm also assuming that the XXX-NT and the XXX-T use the same part.
I need the bones, with the plastic ends.

Ahh, ok. Sorry man, this thing came standard with CVDs and such. I will let you know if I come across something. Alot of people have been saying that if I ditch the CVDs and switch to the normal dogbones, the truck will get more side-bite. If I decide to go that way, I will give you a holler.

Quick update.....
Tires should be here tomorrow. Looks like I may not be repairing the LRP Reverse and just getting a new LRP QC2 w/Worlds Kit from a local racer.
cdog is building me a Power supply so I can charge @ 5A.
On another note, I have hinted that I have been looking to get into the 4wd buggy class. Academy has the new V2 sport out, and the Pro should be out in a month or so. Luckily, the famed X-5 races near me, and I am meeting the creaters up at my local track to get some wheel time and see if I like it or not.

qc2 is the shit dude, its by far my fav esc out there. all those other esc's need so much programming and crap, gotta buy this adapter and this card and whatnot. The qc2 has an internal AI to do all that shit for you. good choice. just don't expect any help from LRP/Team Associated for their warranty...

Thanks man, but I didn't end up getting the QC2. I scored an even better deal! A guy I know off of RC10B4 had a NIB Tekin G10 Pro+ he sold to me for $105 shipped! To top that off, he threw in a slightly used Integy Indi Octane 2 Equalizing Discharger!
I also have my servo and reciever installed. Monday I will be purchasing a Trinity Cobalt 10x2 motor and some matched batteries off the same guy.

Thanks man. Its nice to see some more electric racers here.
I am selling my m18 to cover a new charger and a ROAR membership. The m18 isn't a big deal because I can always build a similar one for next to nothing.
my next charger will be an Intellipeak Ice, LRP Pulsar, or Triton. I need a pro level carger that will do all the things I need it to.
On a side note, sorry for my non-capitolization of the letter M, and any missing letter h's, my keyboard is acting up on me and I need to get a new one tomorrow.
