the big ass toy crawler thread
So wal-mart has these Nylint crawlers... they have a 1/18th one(I've had one of them for months now... it's ripped apart for extensive modding right now and awaiting a servo... piss on that til I finish my TLT build though) and a 1/6 one... Well, when they first came out they wanted like over a hundred bucks for the big one... pssssht... yeah, I'll pass...
BUT alas! Ripper7 picked one up for $50 a few weeks ago and piqued the interest of myself and my colleague, sg219... off to wally world we go! Yeah, we ended up getting them for $40 apiece... much easier on the wallet than $100+, huh?
I finally got a chance to take it out today and proceeded to climb and crawl all over my yard, and both neighbors yards on either side of me and all through the hills between them... even did a bit of mudding in the slop hole next to my kids' pool...
The big ass Jeep gets around pretty well, and is definately worth the 40 bucks... it's powered by a 12 volt lead acid battery similar to what's in my kids power wheels, and it's a 2-speed! There is a little shifter on the TX and you can shift on the fly... I was doing the climb up the hill from behind my kids' swing set, over the rocks, and up into my neighbor Lisas driveway in low and then flippin' it into high to turn around at the top, then dropping it back into low for the descent back down into my yard, and it works pretty damn well... And the 4Ah(note the lack of an"m" lol) lead acid battery lasted a pretty damn long time, too... not sure exactly how long, I was having too much fun to care, but it was a long-ass time!
The people that lived here before me had rocks randomly placed all over the yard... I'm now putting them all in one area of my hill lol...
Heres a few pics...
lol both of those pics were driven into and out of as per "davemud rules" lol
and the poser aftermath shot...
I guess I should have put a bit in there for size reference, but just so you get the idea... a bit or zz would fit on one of the seats, easily... it's fuckin' huge! even bigger than a Maxx... Once my TLT is done, this is going to be painted pink for my 6 year old(she's starting to become a hell of a driver lately... AND she snapped that first pic up there lol) and have a couple of her Bratz dolls strapped in there lol...
So, yeah... if you come across these at wal mart, take it to a price scanner and see what's up... if it's in the $50 and under range, grab one... it's totally worth it.
