Making a Mini-T withstand sand.

OK , My bro brought down his rustler today , it is set up for sand , I had a hella fun time running it in sand. So I was wondering is there any thing special that I should do to my mini-T other than paddle tires , I want to take it with us to little Sahara in two weeks. If any one has been there you know the sand is really fine.

not much you can do to combat sand. It just gets everywhere.

Best thing you can do is get some tools, and stip it down for a good cleaning afterwards

If you dont want it in your electronics, Just mount them inside small plastic tuppleware boxes, and silicone seal the holes cut for the wiring, then it's pretty much waterproof too. You can put baloons over your connectors..... And as for your axles you'll just have to make do with cleaning up...

Run a bead of silicone sealant around the gear cover, and either use a set of bearings that you're willing to throw away, or get some rubber sealed bearings. Even if you get sealed bearings you stand a chance of some fine sand working its way in there.

I wouldn't bother running bearings, alot of the offroad stuff I've had, I never bothered with them because of cleaning. Can you get plastic bushes for the mini-t, or do bearings come factory ?

Actually, good call. The RTR comes with bushings in the wheels, I'd switch back to those. Even if you're willing to throw the set of bearings away, you still may get your fun cut short by getting a bearing jammed up.

Sand and bearings don't get along well at all. That's why I hate running in the soil around my apartment. Its really sandy soil.
