half-eight resurrected

the 1/18th's have been keeping me poor and in trouble with the Mrs. lately  This scale is like meth - addictive and turns me into a jabbering mess!

I spent more than i intended on the minizilla, so i've done a cheap job of resurrecting the half eight after i cooked the original electrics. i picked up a nanodragon ESC from ausmicro, but i couldn't help making a few mods while i was at it ;)

I shifted the motor to the rear behind the servo and turned the centre diff 180*, so that i can run the packs for the minizilla down the other side. also knocked up a top deck out of scrap alloy and put in a RAD400 motor courtesy of Tuner1989 :-o

So much for doing a "cheap" rebuild - i've just dropped $80 on a full set of ball diffs, and i am idly browsing rcmart.com for oil shocks as i type... i feel dirty...

Stock it doesnt, no....

45, if you're going to get hopups for the h8, get 3 racing ones. a lot of my hopups are 3 racing and they fit well, machined well and are strong.

thanks for the tip man! definitely in need now that i've got the better motor in :-o 3r knuckles, shocks and front tower will be next.
Don't think much of the nanodragon ESC though - no Brake function! wtf is up with that?!
I'm really starting to consider brushless for this thing as an option... this is going to be a slow build up anyways.

If you're going to go brushless, get in early before you invest too much in brushed motors and ESC's.....

I bought my half8 off ebay (2nd hand) with an AON4900 motor and MAMBA-25 ESC. Great combo with zero maintenance.... :-o

thats actually some pretty good advice, thanks.

I may actually shelve this one until i can afford the brushless setup - This might sound dumb, but it's just too stable at the moment.

I like my cars to drive to their limits - i'm happy with a brushed motor in the minizilla because keeping it on it's wheels is already a challenge. the half-eight will need a lot more speed before driving it becomes remotely interesting.

How would something like the package above serve me?

I've heard good things about the Quark, but I love my mambas and their USB programming. If you have no problems programming with beeps and lights, then go for it.
