I think you're right about that, but I'm not sure. I guess AMs are a little archaic, but its all I got.ibjamn wrote:I may be wrong here, but I thought they only were used for AM Tx &Rx's.?
EDIT:I just realized my mLST comes with a FM radio, and it has caps on the motors, so I'm going with SG's assessment that its just more pronounced with AM radios.

An answer, and more newb-ass questions!
I found my answer to the motor cap question I asked (for my AX-10 Scorpion) while I was searching for warranty info on the same model of speed control for my Rustler.
My speed control wants a pair of 0.1uF caps on the motor.
<newb mode>
Now that I know what value, the next question is which terminals on my motor do what? I've got a pair of brush hoods with 2x 1/4 spade terminals each, and I've got a pair of smaller connectors coming out that are only labeled +. I know one connection on each brush hood gets the motor lead, that much is set up and works. This is a much nicer motor than any others I've got, and I'm not sure where my caps are supposed to live.
One terminal to hood, the other to can?

As most of you who've known me for any lenght of time know, I just can't leave well enough alone. I will often spend too much time searching, so here's what I learned about installing motor caps.
Post 5 of this thread talks about installing caps on both rebuildable and non-rebuildable motors.

Lazy ADD version:
Get 3 x 0.1uF caps. One between + and -. One from each + and - side to the center post that you couldn't figure out what to do with.
Radio noise should now be completely supressed. Now go outside and play!
