I can't remember if it was here or on R7R that we were talking about 1/4 scale and I was saying it would be an easy thing to take one of the kids atv's and make it remote control. I actually went and looked at some small 500-110cc atv's. Looks like someone beat me to the punch...plus their's you can still ride on, I hadn't thought of that. I wonder how much those are going to cost?

A RC that you can also ride, how cool is that?!

My only nit pick, it didn't seem very fast in RC mode, I'm guessing that's because they geared it with enough power to pull an adult. Be cool if you could flip a switch to change the gearing for more speed. :???:

Add another channel and you could rig a heavy duty servo to the gear shift lever...no, wait, as I typed that I realized it has to be an automatic or it couldn't have sat there running and then taken off like it did. SO, I guess you just dump the 110cc motor for a 250cc...sort of like the 3.3 Revo vs 2.5 one.

You know those gas powered scooters that were so popular a few years ago? Those are illegal to use around here now, and when I showed my wife this, she said it wouldn't be legal to ride, but I say there are no laws about sitting on your RC.

That's a good point.

Does that mean there are a bunch of scooters sitting around that could be a cheap source of engines? Or have they been sold to people in other areas already? I've been wanting a 1/4 scale for years now...those might make a nice starting point for a hillbilly build. :???: Awe, I suppose even if I did find one shipping would kill it. :-(

Most people ride them anyways. It's only illegal if someone calls the cops.

But seriously, they used to be everywhere, now I rarely see one, so I am guessing there are quite a few sitting in garages.

Check Craigslist every couple weeks, you'll have some pocket quads turn up in your area from time to time.
