I got it...SG First Nitro thread.....w/ first lexan 6/28/05

Post by sg219 »

I've been presented with an opportunity to buy this stuff. I'm not that familiar with Nitro stuff, but I don't want to miss out on a good deal to get into Nitro.

So what I'm askin' is....Those of you Pimps that are familar and either already have had or currently own or involed with Nitros.....

What would you pay for this stuff? This is all the info I have at the time. I didn't type the info, it was copied and pasted from an email.

I'm not looking for exact quotes, just a rough idea.

When dealing with nitro, it'a always hard to tell how the engines were treated when talking about "used" goods.

Both those rigs have great engines in em, and that's a plus.. The spare parts are also a +. Not much of a Losi fan these days, but I know their stuff keeps a decent resale value.

I'd say, and this is my opinion, but the T Maxx should be in the market of around $350, and the Losi, well, it's not my style, but if you could get it for around $150 - $175, you'd be doing a killer deal.

Did you ask how much fuel has been through the engines? People always say "Less than a quart on rebuild" lol

If you are comfortable with a simple rebuild, then jump on em. You'll love that Maxx truck. Your old lady, and neighbors won't, but you will... :-)

OS, and sirio both make killer engines.

Thanks Payaso. :-)

The guy used to race in NC and then moved back to Pittsburgh and there were no tracks around. He raced the XXX, but the T-Maxx was his around the crib fun truck. That is the reason he is getting rid of them. Plus, I trust the person.

I'll ask about the fuel.

I'm going to see him Monday night and talk a little more and check them out, touchy, feely.

Cool, when you said that you trusted him, I had to take as good of a look at that pic as I could (hard to tell from 1 pic), but I noticed he's got some blue aftermarket shocks on it, and he lists the bulks just as "Traxxas Bulks" when they are the billet ones. (nice BTW if not bent) And they cost around $100 to do the truck.

Just those 2 items can cost 200 + to put on, and make building these trucks expensive, but nobody ever gets what they put into it out of it when reselling it. that's just the way it is. You can check on ebay to see all the used Maxxes for sale with a shit ton of hop ups selling in the 300 - 500 range, and these are $1000 trucks. If he is a true r/cist, he'll know this like the rest of us do, and not expect to get 800 for that thing. You can buy a NIB one for about 370 @ tower or even a LHS, and build it your self.

He needs a more detailed description on it, but it's a nice looking truck.

Maybe you can get it without the engine, and just drop the O.S. .18 in it...

Lots of options there. Let me know what happens

I might end up getting it all tomorrow. :-D

$600 and drive home!!!

With a couple of rockin' Nitro's!!!

He said he was going to put it on Ebay for $750, but then I found out about him sellin' the stuff and he said he would rather sell to someone he knows, rather than some fuck who might have stolen your RC gear at the track.

AKA...Give it a good home, with someone who'll respect the time he put into it.

If things go as planned, I could very well be tearin' up some snow Tuesday morning!!!

I hope the dickhead that stole my starter is too stupid to take the stickers off I use to personalize my shit under the assumption that they come that way, and if I see that fuck head, he's getting smacked and then asked why he's such a fuckwad.

I knew there was more than meets the eye with that gear. He sounds on the level though. That's going to be awesome if you can score that stuff.

Take a bunch of pics for us so we can all see your goodies. How is bird going to get into nitro now? :???:

Here is the story...........

A T-Maxx and a XXX-NT walk into a bar and I pick them up with an Xmod.....

Little story here.....

I bowl.
I go out after bowling to eat at the local Sportman's club. ($1.35 special..mmmm...)

While waiting to pay my tab, I pull out my..................:-).........350z Xmod from my jacket pocket and get ready to put it on the floor and...

My friend asks me, "What it was."

I said, "A RC car. Yep, thats what it is."

My friend asks, "Do you have larger ones and are you looking to buy any?"

I said, "Not really, but my options are open."

Friend said, "Well, you know(insert friends name) Craig."

I said, "Ya, I do."

Friend said, "Well he is selling some."

I said, "OK, what are they...."

Friend said, "I'll send you the pics of them, I just took them for him so I could put them on Ebay for him."

The pics.......

cd is right. make sure you adjust the carb on it so it will run right and not cause premature engine failure. you can find a little know on the tmaxxes engine taht can be tuned with a small flathead screwdriver. if you didnt get the manual tuning instuctions should be somewhere on traxxas' website. i dont know but about the losi, just that its a high end racing truck that will break alot more easily than the maxx. if you arent going to race, i would sell it for sure. ask him what percent nitro he used. if he used 20% to break it in, you can use 20 or 10 percent, but not higher than 20. if he used 10, your stuck with 10. i hope you get the idea.

I believe he used 20% in both rides, or at least that's what fuel he gave me. I still haven't gotten them running yet. I'm not sure what the problem is now. I stuck a plug in the ignighter, to see if the ignighter works, and it does. So now that eliminates the ignighter and a bad plug.

The electronocs seem to work just fine.

Now it just leaves the engine tuning and compression. :???:

I've been reading so much nitro stuff since I got this last week, that I'm getting a bit overwhelemed with info. It's been like "Night Nitro Classes" for me.
