Ballooning your shocks

Post by payaso »

This mod is super effective, and super duper cheap to do...

Adds a shit load of life to your shocks..(at least here in sandy FL)

Offroad shocks tend to collect a good amount of dirt and grit.. Just general filth & muck...lol

Here in Fl, it's even worse with all the fuckin sand everwhere and running nitro takes it one step further with even more filth & muck.

I decided to go the extra step, and balloon my shocks like the electronics should be.

All you need is one long skinny clown balloon, a pair of scissors, and tools to remove your shocks.

Cut a peice of balloon about little more than half the length of the shock like this

Now you can just start stretching it over the shock end like so.

Once you get it to the end, just stretch it over the shock body, and poke a hole to stretch the balloon around the ball end on the shock end like so.

Now you can re assemble the shocks, and put them back on the truck, and they will stay clean like new... Cost about .25 to do the whole truck.

I almost went the "Shock Sock" route, but didn't want to drop the cash, and wanted to get them air tight, so I opted for rubber, but I might just throw a pair on there just to double up..

Do they keep the small dusty peices out ok?

I don't know. It's still just a chassis at this point. One of these days I'll finish the Mini-T project.

However, I am liking the inner route too.

Bird is the one that actually told me about the idea of using the ballons. :-)
