Good Camera + New Xmod = Cool Pics

Post by skylinekid »

Well I just got my Brand new White "Toyoto Supra" ( thats what it says on the case, no joke ) and I wanted to show it off. Now i realized theirs nothing to show off, its a stock white Supra. I then decided to devote some of my time to playing around with my camera and various light sources till I got some high quality or to say the least, interesting pictures of my car. In the end I took 45 Pictures and kept 5, the rest sucked. I would like to hear what you guys think of my pictures and stuff, maybe some of you expiriance photogrophers can give me some tips on what to do better neat time! Anyways, thats enough talk, here are the pics:

I like pic 3, but it's lacking a small light source. Maybe a small beam of white light aimed at the headlamp. 2-4 are too dark, I like 1, lose 5.

I am, by NO means a pro photographer.

A bit more light would do you ride some justice. :-o

The biggest problem, as already stated, is lack of good light.

Unless you can afford a seperate Flash unit for your Cam, your best bet is to shoot out in the sunlight. Desk Lamps and built-in flash just don't cut it, not by far.

Just to give a rough idea...The equivalent wattage you'd need, to get decent fill lighting, indoors, would be in the neighborhood of a 150watt lightbulb. And that's still barely cutting it.

Another trick that I use is using a tripod long exposure, and white balance instead of complex lighting. If you use a tripod, you can use a shutter speed longer than 1/30 of a sec, and this also allows you to stop down the lens for a greater depth of field.

I don't know if your camera has manual controls, but at any rate a tripod is a good thing to own and you can find a decent one for not much money. It will allow you to make better use of various natural lighting situations.
