stuck a camera on the heli

when i first tried mounting the camera on the heli the 9v battery was too heavy causing it to be rear heavy. so i knocked up an 8 cell nimh pack which turned out to be the perfect weight :-o

Image

the heli had enough power to lift it all, cut the runtime in half though.

so here ya go, couple of false starts and the quality is poor but you get the idea.

Sweet , that looks like a pretty tough heli you have there , mind filling me in on where 'ya got it and how much ? I had one of those airlark ones , And it was just too friggin light , the range was awfull , and the charger sucked...

well it's not that tough, the first crash broke a couple of the main blades!
but superglue works good until the next crash :-o

the heli is a colco xrbIV lama, appears to be a copy of the hirobo of the same name.
i got it from an ebay store, revolution shop or revolution store (ebay seems to be down so no link, he sells lotsa helis, planes and wireless cams. also the place where i originally bought my cam). based in aus but ships from hong kong.
total price including ems shipping was $161aud :-o

That's awesome! It looked like you got that sucker pretty high!
But the perspective always seems greater from 'up there'. lol

oh man. I almost died when you had to climb the side of the house to retreive it from the tree. The camera was saying hi to yo. :-)

Ditto, that was cool.
I always pictured you living out in the middle of no where too, didn't think there were other houses around.

That's really cool. The color and contrast in the vid is beautiful.

When are you going to add weapons?

Totally agreeing with SF on the color/contrast... loved it in the last tank vid, too...

The helipad is the icing on the cake for sure... you should make a permanent one out of a patio block...

no need to add weapons, it's basically an rc boomerang!

i personally think the vid quality would have been better if it was a cloudy day, seems a bit washed out in parts.

there's also some loss in quality going from analogue to digital, you'll notice the picture freezes when the reception is poor. on the analogue screen it's just a bad picture but the digital part waits until the picture clears up.

That was cool seeing your neighborhood, I thought you lived next door to a gang of kangaroos or something.

That was a crack up when you got stuck in the tree too.

That's super cool, dude. Like SF said, the quality of the image is really nice.
