Molten blobs over cracked paint

I've had this body sitting around, and I did this for the hell of it, with no particular idea in mind. I just wanted to experiment with blending red, orange, yellow, and red behind the yellow, and give the liquid mask one more try. It does have its draw backs, but I found it a lot easier to work with this time, and I'm really happy with the results.

"Molten blobs over cracked paint" sounds like something the government would do to fix something...but, it looks great.

Wait, it just dawned on me...so that paint has to be on the outside of the body right? I've never tried to paint the outside, did you use any special primer or just the existing surface?

Actually, I had planned to do sheet metal and rivets underneath, but everything came out so perfect, I decided I did enough experimenting and it was time to wrap it up before I screwed something up.

Nope all in the inside. :???:

Thanks again for the compliments. I am really happy with this one. I'm thinking about entering it in RCCA's monthly best paint competition. :-o

@IBJ, I'm so used to painting tiny cars, that I never considered comparing it to 1/10th scale. 1/18th scale seems huge to me, I never considered that its harder than the paint jobs I try to emulate. :???:

That's a great idea let me just get done ramping it in my living room for a few hours. It should get too many dents.

That's my point. The detail in the paint you have done on that body, most people can't get on the larger scale bodies. I mean, that would rival any cover car on the RC magazines.

Enter that bad boy in RCCarAction's next Best Paint competetion.
