A BajeDrift WIP

Post by Maxximum Attack »

I bought myself a bunch of stuff back in May for my birthday. All that stuff was in the hopes of making a nice RC shell (to use this time  )
Yes, it's july and it still isn't finished, blame the educational system.

Here's the progress of my little project.

Edge Slide Racing Wheels Chrome,7mm & 10mm offset From Genkidoridori.com
HPI GT wing set (85612), and
HPI tuner kit (85613)

Image

The chrome on the intercooler was peeling with the tape, so I had to do a little rescue. It looks a little rough around the edges, but alot better than it was

After :) :

The shell arrived a long time after the other stuff, it's an HPI Nissan 350Z

After LOTS of drawing, erasing, re-thinking, tossing and turning, I finally came up with a paintjob. It will be Green wit 3D ghost crystals. You'll notice some bands behind the door, those will also be ghosted in different greens. But, I need a totally different green all together. One that will fill the background of the crystals. I'm thinking either mint-green, or using a light coat of smoke to make a slightly darker green.

Just a shot of the whells I'll be using

Last night I did the CF hood, roof and boot. It was a painful learning experience and well worth it, have a look:

I still have to buy the Green and other colours to finish the paintjob. Also I'll be looking into getting some decals made.

Took me about 2 months to get this far cuz of university finals, hopefully it'll be finished by the end of the month.

Lemmie know what you think of it so far :-)

Thanks for the compliment Betty.k

Now here it looks after a quick photochop. I was trying to figure out where I should place the decals and what decals to use, other than the ones that came with the shell. I'm hoping to strikje a balance between the sponsors and the paintjob. The crystals were not hiighlighted cuz that would just be a PITA to do.

Image

I still have to add more like:
the driver name
flag
decals for the hood, roof and rear QP
Decals for the windshield

But I'd need more photos for those chops, this one was just for fun. I can do it randomly for the other parts.

Normally I don't associate green on cars. too many bad/wonky/weird paint jobs. Exception being SG's cars of course

But a car coming from maxx.. and it's going to be green? This is going to be very interesting indeed...

hahaha

I kinda forced myself to go green. I still haven't fully committed to it as yet. That'll happen when i buy the paint

Thanks for the compliments guys. The perspective on the jap chars is alot off, I realised it when I looked at the shell and said "There is no way that those letters can stretch that far, be that close and still be that small  "

I'm currently on the hunt for aftermarket companies that are't as big as the ones I currently have on the shell.

Thanx again

Orange would look good with that scheme. How about a Sunrise Yellow into Orange fade? Maybe a Green pinstripe for separation.

Genki may not have them in stock. He gets alot of sales.
I just checked for you and they're out. Send him an email, he facilitates special orders.

highly recommended by me.

Have a look around tthe site, he has lots of cool stuff that's drift oriented.

@Dave: NO!! I'm pushing through with the green

It's awesome man! Those are some crazy designs on there but if you ditch those and go with the decals, it'll be a lot easier.
The rims go great with it!

I just hit the biggest, most evil snag of the entire build.
No paint on the island
The "lhs" guy doesn't have anymore and isn't restocking cuz some airbrush guy is painting everyone's shells :?
