As Lyle says , his hat , while now destroyed , appears to have absorbed a lot of the forces .......
And he was flying very competently leading up to this .. there wasn't a wind gust , and the heli tested ok afterwards , no frequency conflicts ....
He's cranky because he failed the test though !!! Says he'll be flying again next weekend ...
btw the heli appears to have come out OK too ; broken woodies , bent flybar and spindle, creased canopy seems to be all .....
