I can just picture the freefall, then the pop the shute open and glide the guy right down to you!

Couple weekends ago, I was flying a kite (wanting to see if it would be stable enough to bother building a Kite Aerial Photography rig) and for some reason my mind drifted to those little plastic party favor Paratroopers, then back to this thread...

If you could live with it doing static-line jumps, it seems like you could build a single channel diver that would be able to do everything except the flare. Going up to 2 channel would let you have much more realism, but bigger and more weight. Micro size electronics wouldn't take up that much room, so smaller size would be possible.

You could make a VERY simple drop box using a modified windup-toy spring motor. Attach box onto kite string using a couple pullies and either some very simple hang-ups or a coupe caribiners...
