Losi now offering a Lipo option for Micro-T

Looks like Losi noticed that people want a Lipo option and they're now offering one.
A 7.4v @ 180Mah pack for ~$30 or with a wall-wart for ~$44
$30 for a 2cell pack is ridiculous (IMHO), you can buy the individual packs from aero-nuts.com for $2.40 each!

yeah, it seems a bit much. But what I think is cool, is the fact that they released a higher voltage option for their 4.8volt system

Technically, that charger could be used for any of the small 2 cell lipo's. it
would just take longer to charge a 250mah lipo. Conveinence of a
portable small lipo charger would be nice.
Anyone know the C
charge rating of this little guy? I'd assume 1C, but lately toy lipos are
getting the beatdown at 2-3c charges(not sure which route losi would take
in this matter.)
although, for the same price you can buy the apache charger and the
fullriver 250mah lipo's. But then you have to work out a 12v power
supply. (old pc power supply)

its about time they released lipos for this thing. now im just wondering when there going to release some new motors, hopefully a little better quality too. i have two micro-t's and the both had a bent retainer clip in the motor.

Wouldnt a 12v 1000 ma regulated ac to dc adapter do the trick for a power supply? Im only asking cuse thats what i have lying around, and i was thinking of pursuing clints alternative of the apache charger and the lipo's that fullriver offers. If not ive got a pc power supply sitting here too, but that route seems a bit over kill.

Nice idea!
I just used a 12v 500mah to charge a single 250mah with the apache and it worked! The 500 was not enough to charge them as a complete 2cell 250mah pack tho(the apache showed error and wouldnt initiate the charge) My largest is only an 800, so i didnt bother trying again.
I would bet the 1000mah is worth a shot.

I've heard that wall warts have too much fluctuation, and you need a regulated supply... but if its working, well then hey, what do I know.

Cool, specifically this post from that thread caught my eye.
Diy charger for about 5$ in parts.
He pulls power from the usb port.

They are so tiny, make two, add separate charge leads to each cell of
your fullriver 250's and plug them into a set of usb ports. lol.
Now that would be a great travel charger. A little slow, but charging at
2/3c and basically balanced, the batts will last forever.
Save so much money from not spending it on the charger you can buy 3
sets of lipos and always have a full batt.

Thats interesting, did you notice the charge voltage is limited to a fixed 4.2V

Small budget lipo chargers are fixed at 4.2v, some of the nicer ones,
ice, triton etc can drop down to 4.1v per cell. It can extend battery
life but it's not necessary. As long as you dont exceed 4.3v it's fine.

If you get around to trying 2 cells with 1000mah let me know the results. I was going to start ordering parts today, and i want to make sure i have a suitable power supply.

Being that I ain't no EE, how does the juice from the battery bay get regulated at the Apache? Whatever power supply you're using for the charger should be regulated/constant right?
