The power drawn from the bats is a constant supply (untill it runs out). Batteries discharge at a fairly constant rate. With the 2500mah rechargeable AA's available these days thats not a bad idea. It would keep it portable (However with the hack job he did on the case i wouldnt wouldn't tote that thing around.)

Well shit then, I'm orderin the Apache 2030 (does BOTH nimh and lipo) TONIGHT and I'll just pick up an 8xAA batt holder from rat shack and call it christmas!

I just tried 8 fully charged energizers(2500mah) and the apache 2020.
The status light on the apache just blinks-error. The 2020 says it needs
10.5v minimum. Piggy back 2 more nimh batts for 12v and it'll easily work. Those 2 cell AA holders from rat shack will work perfectly.

that guy must be using alkalines 8x1.5=12v
nimh 8x1.2=9.6v

Checked the energizers with a multimeter 10.1v fully charged.

180mah? that's it??

I got four Ultrafire 500mah AAA li-ions sittin right beside me. They would be the dog's nuts for the Micro-T.

Yeah, but what's the discharge rate on em? If they can't happily provide 2.1A mps (which is what the stock motor can draw up to)...Then you might have some wrinkly old dog's nuts there.

I remember throwing them into my xmod and just hammering on the throttle. batts got warm but nothing too bad. I know they were drawing at least 1.5C from these because I did some pretty heavy duty driving (motor was absolutely cooking). So if you could do a 2s2p setup you could easily provide 2.5Ah.

Once I get my iWaver together (with a custom motor that pulls the maximum juice the xmod stock fets allow), I'll put these inside and get an idea of their runtime and discharge characteristics.

Found a thread about them here. They only tested up to 600mah on these. I believe further research is necessary.

Now, if the Micro-T can fit in AA size Li-ions, you could go with these inside.

Another option (this may require modification) is these Li-Fe-PO4 cells, which are rated at 1300mah and 10C discharge!

This works great. Props to Namuna for mentioning this in the other thread. :-o

It's only a 1250mah, but 4 charges is plenty of runtime on a brushless micro-t. Bonus: there's no way to ruin the power source lipo as the apache will stop the charge when the input source drops below 10.5v. The apache can also charge that 3 cell kokam. :)

Stack the apache on the lipo and tie off the wires and it's half the size
of the losi charger. :-o

Im still trying to get away from using batteries to charge batteries, but it is good to know that there are a ton of options out there.

Here's a 12v regulated power supply 4.1 amp. In a nice portable size. 25$
I'm going to grab one for general use. (it's probably a generic laptop power supply)

..and a 10 cell AA 2500mah.
Two 4 cell holders and a 2 cell from radio shack. $1.75 each.
Meter shows 13.5v

I feel a bit safer carrying AA's around than carrying a 15C 1250mah lipo. :-( Now I need one of those project cases.

hey nice work clint.

I'm running some tests on the AAA cells I have. I'll let you guys know what I find out.
